I've read on the some threads of people wanting to retrofit the Apple CarPlay component saying it isn't possible but a quick google search and YouTube search shows people installing components that enable Apple CarPlay.

I found some sites that sell the units to install and was wondering if anyone has used these wevsitws

Anyways, some of the sites look kind of sketch but you get the point. There are several installation videos on these websites and YouTube which leads me to believe it works.

edit: I've also seen many on AliExpress as well. They're less uniform and standard and run on Android 11 but I have seen some that look legit. Unsure of reliability though.

 

Get the UAD unit. Solid support and lots of successes on this forum. Do a search and you should be able to find all the info you need. First thing is determine if you have a Bosch or Harmon unit.

Depending on which system you have, it either goes in the dash or behind the seats. There are YouTube videos for both installations but mine goes in the dash so I’m going to get it done professionally. I have the one from UAD and they made sure I ordered the right one. I did some research before hand and definitely wanted to go with this unit since others seem to have issues.

 

For the 2015 F type does anyone know where the head unit is located? I’ve seen videos of it behind a panel in the rear of the center console. Our 2015 F type has a storage compartment back there not a panel.

 

Apparently you have a convertible. The coupes do not have the stoarage compartment behind the console.

 

Yes I have a convertible-nice catch. Do you know if the head unit for the audio system is still located behind my storage compartment?

For US models, they were in the dash until the end of the 2017 model year.
