Default Definitive Naviplus Apple Car Play Android Auto Thread

Hey guys

The definitive merryway thread was such a success, i think we need another thread for the other option on market to integrate apple car play and android auto.

This option differs from the merryway in that it uses the existing iam2.1 screen and for me at least, looks like a much easier and more robust solution

There are a handful of people already using this system, so hopefully they will chime in with their feedback

There are also plenty of videos on naviplus youtube page to show operation

Naviplus is local to me here in Aus, so i will go down soon and have a chat with them. My only questions are around installation and the external aux hookup for sound which i'm concerned will reduce sound quality (on a meridian surround system which isn't that great to begin with)

Please keep us posted. I’m a bit confused. They are offering a unit that will work on 2014-2016 models. I thought there were two different infotainment systems provided during that timeframe.

since it’s not a full replacement like merryway, but rather more of a piggy back, I don’t think the version matters

they do have another listing for the 10” screen though

Does anyone know if the early 2016 display has open RCA Jacks in the back?

one of the f-type fb forum members was grateful enough to pull his naviplus unit out and make this diy for us

scroll through and you'll see all the components and how integration is different to the merryway

shout out to Richard Palmer

I e-mailed the sales team to check would work with a UK car and they said "As long as the car has either IAM2 or 2.1 audio, it is compatible, regardless of which country it was sold in."

I'm close to pulling the trigger on an order.......

Don't think so, the purple input on the back of the 2013 unit is an 'SMB' connector, you can get SMB to RCA converters - which figures as the reversing camera which plugs into the purple input, is distinctly analogue !

Do we know how this gonna affect sound quality, only reason why I wouldn’t pull trigger is that.

bump

i ended up meeting up with a friend of mine who did this retro on his range rover sport with the iam2.1

good news is all the menus work well, you lose the oe nav though, but all other oe menus still work. response is same as oe, still laggy navigating within the apps but tolerable

bad news is the screen quality just isn't there to use google earth satellite view, it lacks sharpness and definition, everything just looks blurry, gotta stick to the basic map layout

i wasn't able to really test the sound as he has the base audio so all it sounded rather flat regardless
