Default Battery advice please

Hi guys,

Would this be an acceptable OE replacement for the main battery?

S5A13 12V 019 AGM Stop Start Car Battery by Bosch

Jag $tealer wants to charge me £240.00 + tax AND fitting at £90.00 + tax

Total an eye watering £396.00 or about $600 USD

Buy this one fit myself half the price! Thanks for your advice in advance guys.

DIY is always cheaper and you also know it was done correctly and you won't have any new scratches on your car...unless you are clumsy.

Oh, almost forgot...seeing how you are on that side of the "Pond", be sure to ask them for a "Right-hand" battery.

Hmm, I was just looking through OzXFR's shop manual, as my battery will probably be replaced in the next year or two. Found this...
If a new primary battery is fitted to the vehicle, the BMS control
module will require re-calibrating using a Jaguar approved diagnostic
system.

That has been proven many times to be a myth, it's essentially a JLR "suck in" to get you to visit the dealership and pay for something unnecessary.
The BMS self-calibrates during the first two or three drives after installing a new battery or after disconnecting then reconnecting the existing battery.
I have disconnected and reconnected my battery two or three times now without any attempt to recalibrate the BMS using SDD and never had a single battery or electrical system problem.

Good to hear. I read about the self calibration in your manual. The section on the battery, charging, and all the crazy subsystems is pretty interesting.

If you're an engineer, or really bored.
