Default Battery Drain Question

Am I to understand from a couple other threads that there may be a problem starting these cars if parked for extended periods without a trickle charger/tender/massager? For instance, should I expect a starting failure if my F is parked in long term parking in Charlotte, NC while I'm on a two week vacation in February?
Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems if this is an actual possibility that Jaguar roadside assistance would be inundated with calls for assistance.
Oh, as an aside, just what is going on in these vehicles when parked that drains a battery so quickly?

Your car will always start unless there is a significant and very usual problem. But modern cars, not just Jaguars, need full battery voltage to keep all the electronic modules working properly. If you drive your car regularly, and if you drive it long enough to keep the battery fully charged, there will be no problem. But in many cases these cars are used not on a daily basis, and the runs are not long enough to keep the battery properly charged. When the voltage drops you may find certain symptoms relating to electrical items: the touch screen freezing, locks or windows or seats or roof not operating as designed. There is nothing wrong with the car other than a battery issue!
This is the reason that so many use a GOOD battery maintainer such as the CTEK to keep the battery fully charged. Every premium car manufacturer supplies these units as accessories under their own brand name for the reasons I have stated. This s not a "Jaguar" issue. If your battery is fully charged you will easily be able to leave it for a few weeks with no problem.
Lock your car when it is not in use...this shuts down the modules fully and more quickly than if the car is left unlocked. Do not keep the key close to the car. Use the car! And use it long enough to keep the battery charged (if the battery discharges you will get a warning on the dash to start the car). Finally, get and install a CTEK changer. End of concern on this issue.

Thanks for your very detailed explanation, and since mine is a daily driver I don't think I'll concern myself unless something happens.
Just for grins though, exactly what modules would be active in a parked car (other than maybe the security system for a locked vehicle), and what would those modules be doing to draw power?

Among other modules, elements of the climate control system remain active (you might be coming back to the car in 10 minutes and need quick cooling from the AC)...I have not researched this regarding the F-Type but on my previous car, the XK, several modules (according to the technical manual Jaguar produced for its techs) remain active for 36 minutes if left unlocked. If locked they are active for 6 minutes...others can speak of the arrangement on the F-Type.

You'd presumably also need the telematics(?) module (the one that handles requests from the remote app) to be active permanently.

That makes sense. Thanks for that.

BTW, I've had my R AWD for nearly six months now, it lives outside and I've only put 1420 miles on, mostly short journeys (overall average 17.5727 mpg - yeah, I'm that sad!). I've never had a low battery warning, nor put my CTEK on her yet. She often goes three days without being used (much to my shame).

I've had my car for 3.5 years and the battery system has worked flawlessly (except for OBD issue) without a tender even though the car periodically sits for weeks at a time. With the Smart Start technology lithium battery on my car for a bit over 6 months now, I worry even less. So far, the lithium battery has remained sufficiently charged to avoid triggering the auto battery shutdown (except the last time the OBD port was accessed). A tender is a good choice to enhance battery life, but not needed any more than on any other car. The issues that arose before the ODB issue was understood caused a run on tenders within the F-Type community.
