Default black spots on the garage floor under left rear of the car

keep forgetting to ask- I am seeing the watery black soot spots on the floor only on one side. I realize this is the condensation in the exhaust being expelled, but should I see it on both sides of the car?

I wouldn’t worry too much about much so long as ya confirmed with the finger that it was sooty and not greasy etc…

I tend to remember the one time I noticed some (sooty) it happened to only be on one side like you are describing. At least that is my recollection. I rarely seem to get that sooty deposit that folks talk about.

Cheers

I have noticed that too - a small, sooty puddle of water on the garage floor.
My car cold starts with the sport exhaust “on” and it quiets down after a minute or so.
The warm exhaust gases and water vapor condense on the cold rear pipes and drip out at the vacuum switch which is mounted on the right side of the exhaust on this car.

Your exhaust may not hang perfectly level. or your garage floor may not be, or you may have one tire slightly low, causing the condensation to gather more on one side than the other. If you have non-clear smoke from one side (or both) once it's warmed up that's worth noting but a little soot stain is fine. The tune of the Ftype involves dumping a little fuel into the exhaust to make all the pops and crackles, so a little soot is expected.

Thanks for your response. I think most missed the point of my question: "why was I finding it only on the left side?" Guess when I get it back from getting the PPF, I'll crawl under and look closer.

Condensation will find the lowest point, doesn't take much for one side to get most of the water, things are rarely perfectly symmetrical.

<drip out at the vacuum switch>
I’m going to revise my comment.
The Black Jag is up on the lift in winter storage, and I was under there this afternoon. Evidently, the condensate leaks out of the right side pipe at the clamped joint and runs down the pipe to the low spot and drips on the floor.
I stand corrected ;-)
