CarPlay, Android Auto, Mirrorlink, updating the F-Type entertainment
If you are referring to my post, we were just guessing that the dealer advertising they could do this may have had an aftermarket solution. There is verification or knowledge thtat such a device exists. Just conjecture as the advertising dealer never responded.
Cambo I’m in Aus (vic) and keen on this Apple car play device
can’t you cycle to aux with the mode button on the steering wheel?
whats involved in the install? Do you need to get behind the screen?
edit - think this is it, these guys aren’t too far from me, will go check it out

Thanks again for all of your work Cambo! I was in a Ford Flex (like a giant station wagon if they don't have them there) rental last weekend, Waze worked right through CarPlay, no jailbreak needed. (Might be a moot point now anyway.)
Waze now works on all Ford carplay systems without need for jailbreak. My wife's 2017 and my 2018 both got the update seamlessly. I'd really love to have Android Auto (which already worked with Waze) in the jag. subscribing for future breakthroughs!
I've been giving this some thought. I think I may have the basics to do this, and was wondering what was thought.
Use a Navtool Video in motion JAGUAR F-TYPE 2014-2018 VIDEO IN MOTION
This would give alternative video inputs.
Then you could connect a CarPlay into that, or at least the mirror capability.
I alo see that someone did it for a 2013 XKR. Wouldn't that have the same system as the 2014 F-Type?

The navtool box only does mirroring, you can't control anything from the touchscreen, it just takes over the screen and displays only.
The infotainment system in the XK is very different to the F-Type (it's much older), not that it matters because we have the same problem in the XK, can display only, no touch interaction.

Actually, If you watch the video at some point they show that you can go back and forward from the traditional Jag menu to the android OS. There is more information online and it looks you don't lose any of the jag factory features like the dynamic mode.
In addition, as the video shows it has 2 operative systems, the original Jaguar one and android OS.
This particular unit does have touch screen. You can see it in the video
That pretty much looks perfect as an upgrade. I wonder if it works with the NLI head unit, and what happens when the dealers want to upgrade the original infotainment system ? Also for those with reversing cameras, and parking assist, what happens when these are invoked ?
