Removing it is easy. Filling in the massive gap left behind is the problem. The grill is in multiple pieces. There is an upper piece, a lower piece, the center piece and then the surround. When you remove the middle, you ar eleft with huge gaps in the surrount and a large missing piece in the middle.

You need to take the front bumper off - takes about 15 minutes, and there is no need to remove the bottom pan, just the 4 bolts towards the rear.

On my 2016 convertible I'm planning to remove that bumper and the OEM grills and replace it with a p7 style grill that I purchased on ebay. Below is a link

I saw the video linked above... seems like a lot of work, what with the parking sensors, front plate, etc...

Here's the one that he shows he didn't get b/c it was too expensive - they claim 'OEM fitment straight swap', so for some, that might be worth the extra money.

That looks a lot like yours! I'd be interested to see how the fitment is and how much of a job it was to swap.

@Nick-Type S Yes there is some work and fabrication involved but it is worth it. I would budget a full day to do the job right. Here is my personal write-up:

Depending on year model make sure you get the appropriate replacement grill there was a change in appearance for 2018 MY I believe.

I have it and it is not a straight swap, you have to cut a bit of the bumper. Also you have to reroute your parking sensors wiring and make a holder for them (or glue them which I do not recommend).

I don't recall there being a change to the center grill. Only the scoops (under the lights) changed. The mnor facelift in 2018 made the scoops on the R more horizontal and they introduced smaller scoops for the V6 and i4 cars. As far as I know, the grill remained unchanged.
