@clubairth1 Any concerns about the steel tube pressed into the aluminum at that junction as you mentioned before? Seems like a possible point of failure.
Nothing yet. This type of construction is very common in the car world and I have seen many examples. I would not worry about it and I have never seen or heard of a leak in that area either.
Since your interested in the rear water manifold I need to mention that there are 2 IDENTICAL electrical plugs at the back of the engine. This was a terrible decision and was not noted by JLR anywhere. It came to light when a forum member replaced the rear water manifold and started getting error codes. The rear water manifold has a temperature sensor in it. The Symposer also has the exact same electrical plug and yes they do plug into either one.
Note which plug goes to the rear water manifold. It does look like the Symposer plug is grey and the water manifold plug is black plastic.
This picture shows the water manifold temperature sensor location. The other hose shows the second engine coolant sensor. So there are actually 3 separate sensors that use the same identical electrical connection. Now there is no way you can swap the front and rear coolant temperature sensors because they are so far apart the wire won't reach.
But watch out for those 2 in the back of the engine!
Oh and do remove all that ridiculous Symposer stuff while your in there!
