I'm too paranoid about water intrusion to leave the connector hanging out of the vehicle, rubber plug or not. Murphy's Law and all that. I am fortunate to have an electrical outlet on the wall next to where I park my Jag so my CTEK unit is installed next to it. I live in the mountains and thunderstorms are common so I do have a surge suppressor on the CTEK plug just in case.....
Here's how it looks when not in use. CTEK sells the plastic mounting bracket and the unit just snaps in. And I bought an extension to reach the hatch area of my car. You could also mount the unit to any surface with a couple of screws.

So my CTK 5.0 showed up today. It came with the 1/4 inch eyelets. These seem huge for the positive connection on the BUSBAR. Lots of space on the one side. Anyone else have this same issue. Do they make smaller eyelets. Negative fits fine. Ill see if I can post a photo of it.
I bought the so-called "Comfort Connector" with the three LEDs that show the alleged state of charge of the battery - they are available in various eyelet sizes.
You could always buy some smaller gauge eyelets, cut off the CTEK ones and crimp and/or solder the smaller ones to the wires. That assumes you have a crimping tool and soldering gun.
I actually do but got lazy and just ordered the extension with the smaller eyelet and used a washer on the lug that attached to the busbar. There is not a lot of voltage or current passing through those connections and as long as there is good contact the CTEK will work as designed.

Yeah i did hook it up with the oversized eyelets. It started at stage three last night and is now on stage 7 so it does look like the connections are ok. debating if i just leave well enough alone or get some steel washers for the positive side connection. My Extension cable showed up today so I can make the connections more long term now.
