Default Custom wheels... help resolve disagreement

Once again, I wanted to ask your input.

I am having a set of custom wheels made, the manufacturer is arguing with me about the correct offset.
I told them 38mm rear and 55mm front (20" - 20-9 and 20-11)
He says 30mm all around....
I don't want a $6000.00 set of wheels rubbing... HELP! (spacers are NOT an option)

The OEM offsets are 38 and 55 respectively.

In front, 40mm offset will push the wheel face out a safe additional 15mm. 30mm offset will be disastrous.

In back, the 11" already pushes the wheel face out 6mm, so you want to go with a 29mm (38-(15-6)) offset to push the face out 15mm compared to OEM. 30mm will work fine for the rear as it will push the face out 14mm. In back you don't want to push it out more than 15mm if you plan on lowering the car or moving to a 305/30-20 tire.

Your original plan of 38, 55 is a conservative plan and will work fine leaving the front face in the OEM location and will push out the rear by 6mm.

Thank you. I wanted to be 200% sure before arguing.

Sounds like that Mfg may be saying that he CAN'T make them to the needed specs, perhaps?

My aftermarket wheels are 20 x 9.5 front et 41, and 20x11 rear et 22. Gives the a near perfect stance. Could possibly push the front outs a miniscule amount more, but definitely no more at the rear - otherwise expect it to rub at full suspension compression, and that is with 295's.

Pics please. That's pushing the front face out 20mm and the rear 22mm. Those numbers would be tearing up the fenders on my car.

I wanted to go with an SVR set but in the end I didn't like them so I got rid of them. The offset above (41 in front) vs. 55 means your face is pushed out 14mm (1.4cm).That sounds like a lot to me. Then also the rear at 16mm (1.6cm)... That makes me very uncomfortable

Here is a link to the initial post with pics after the wheels were installed, courtesy of the previous owner. He did use stock tires on wider rims, and mentioned that 305's would not be possible in the rear with this setup. However, I increased the fronts to 265/30/20's and still think I could get 275's in there if I needed too.

14mm is fine. Many of us are using 15mm or 17mm adaptors. However, not that Chawumba is using 9.5" wheels, pushing the face out an additional 6mm. Sale in back: no problem with the 16mm, but the 11" wheel adds another 6mm to the equation.

But he is still using 295 so in reality that other 6mm. is just in the middle part of the wheel. If he went 305 then I would see it

Use caution however, as once you lower your car and add wheels with proper offsets, you will never think a factory F type looks right ever again. Last time I was at a dealer I marveled at how bad the one in the showroom looked - black car with gaudy chrome everywhere, 3" gap above the tires and factory wheels that were tucked in so much they looked like they belonged on a different car.
