I wonder if I have a leaking waterpump! But I have a 4.2! I smell coolant on the outside of the car, and it appears I lose coolant at a slow rate. I have had the car pressure tested and the shop told me they left it hooked up to the pressure tester overnight and there was no loss of pressure?

I ordered a new expansion tank cap--I'll see if that does the trick?

When I had an XKR the pump 'weeped' a small amount of fluid and it really did not show up well on the pressure test. The master mechanic said it was a known issue and they replace the pump and that fixed it.
I recall he showed me that the pump was slightly wet at the bottom.

Any new developments? Still the smell?

Way better. I’ve been constantly checking the coolant level and its not disappearing.

Had this same issue myself. Dealer replaced water pump and a few hoses after pressure testing. Luckily nothing under the supercharger.

After a coolant pipe replacement I experienced sporadic antifreeze smell through air vents and heated plastic smell in engine bay. Originally I thought it was caused by residual coolant just burning off but dealer diagnosed a leaking engine oil cooler and thermostat housing. Water pump not leaking but dealer recommenced to replace with the improved one.

Thanks for this - thought your dealer was nuts at first, but a oil to water cooler in the valley of the engine that leaks would explain the smell, perhaps the culprit in my car with the lingering antifreeze smell after water pump replacement. How long did your oil cooler swap take you?

Car is at dealer waiting for JLR to decide if I'll get some goodwill, if not I'll swap it. Can you check if yours leaks?

JLR will not offer goodwill so picking up the car tomorrow and will attempt the repair myself. I’m not 100% convinced the culprit is the oil cooler so I’ll add fluorescent dye and pressure & vacuum test.

What happened to yours? Water pump and a hose? Both? Or just hose? Which hose?
