Does that single or double lock the car (assuming you get that facility in your market)?

I tried locking the open door with the switch on the inside door panel. It does not respond. This is whether or not I have the fob on my person, whether or not the passenger door is locked or unlocked, and regardless of the settings for single or double lock/unlock. I normally have it set for single unlock but tried both ways.

So it looks like in my case, the only way to lock the car is with the fob or by pushing the outside handle.

Double lock isn't the converse of double unlock - double unlock unlocks only the driver's door on the first press. Double locking imposes extra security when activated. Maybe locking with the internal button is an MY-specific thing - I'll have a go with my MY18 next time.

Sorry I was confused on the terminology. I have the settings selected so that one press of the unlock button on the fob or pressing the button on the door handle only unlocks the driver's side door. If I want to open both doors, it takes two presses in rapid succession on the fob and to open the passenger door from the driver's side if it is locked without using the fob, it requires that you open driver's side door and unlock it from the switch on the door panel.

I can open my passenger door with the door handle button if I have the fob in close proximity - no need to do anything on the driver's side.

Yes, if I am standing on the passenger side of the car but not from the exterior button on the handle on the driver's side. I have to use the fob or open the driver's door and then unlock the passenger side with the switch on the interior of the driver's door.

Ah, I understand what you're saying. Yeah, you can't unlock the passenger door from outside the driver's door with two-stage unlocking. I guess that theory is that if you have two-stage unlocking set the driver will get in and unlock the passenger door from inside. AIUI, you can do it by pulling the interior door handle open, too, not just from the button.
