SO THIS just happened.
Middle of driving. All
of a sudden car “feels” as if it’s in Neutral. Battery image appears and then the D both on the gear shift and on screen are Blinking. I hit the gas pedal RPMs go up car goes Nowhere. Parked turned the car off and on again. Worked! For about an hr. Repeated the process and so far it’s been ok. I have to note that I’m also experiencing a strange hesitation when putting the pedal down, like the car is struggling to accelerate.
anyhoo hope this helps, no check engine light whatsoever.

Yep, the first thing to check is the battery. Hook it up to a charger/tender overnight and see what happens, if still no good time for a new one.
The second thing to do is chuck a code reader on it and see what codes come up.
Then go from there.

When I experienced hesitancy on accelerating it was because the electrical connector on the fuel pump was loose and making intermittent contact. But I got low fuel rail pressure codes and other symptoms, too.
If your 2015 still has its original AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery, it sounds like it is ready for replacement. You may want to research Li Ion batteries and see what you think.

6 years is about all the AGMs are good for.

Could that just be the car taking a while to think about downshifting for better acceleration? That can sometimes take a couple of seconds?

I don’t know. It seems to happen when I accelerate quickly. Right passed the 5 rpm it starts to “jerk”. Does Not happen if I accelerate Gradually.
gonna definitely change the battery. Put in fuel injector cleaner. Maybe have the tech check solenoids? Definitely going to change transmission fluids
