Default Is dynamic sport mode firmer ride than normal mode?

Going on a long road trip and want to know if normal mode has a less bumpy ride compared to sport mode. I want a smooth ride for this long trip. Stock 2022 F type R dynamic P450 with OEM Pirelli 20” tires. Thanks.

Yes, Dynamic has a firmer/bumpier ride than Normal, quite a bit firmer in my experience.
I would guess that on a 2022 P450 R Dynamic you would have iDynamic (aka configurable dynamics) as standard.
If so you can configure it when in Dynamic mode to be Dynamic for gearbox, exhaust and steering and Normal for suspension, this is how I have mine set up.
I can't remember if Sport automatically invokes Dynamic mode (as I drive in Dynamic mode all the time anyway) so having it in Sport but not Dynamic (if possible) may or may not enable configurable dynamics, all I know for sure is that on my car configurable dynamics is only available in Dynamic mode.

Normal and sport (S) should be the same. Dynamic should be a bit harder and maybe jiggly a little on a bad road driving slowly. OEM Pirelli's will be firmer than (say) michelins, also I find it takes about 5000kms of driving for the seat leather to relax and that smooths out the bumps a lot (so your driver's seat will be more comfy than the less used passenger seat), also the ride improves with speed. Mine runs on 21's and michelins and has a lovely ride even in dynamic.

Try to soften up your seat leather with leather conditioner before you go. The jury is out on whether it penetrates through the poly coating that they put on the semi analine leathers (and definitely wont if you have corrected grain leather), but at least the rubbing will soften it up a bit.

Have fun!

S doesn't automatically invoke dynamic mode. As you've observed, you have to be in dynamic mode to configure the configurable dynamics - if you're not you get a message to that effect. Like you, I choose Normal suspension in my settings, too.

Has there been any info released/studied as to any change in mpg/mpk when in the dynamic vs 'normal' mode?

Is this a GAS PRICE query?

Our F forum is one of the few where the question hasn't come up recently...

Some folks save money by using 87 octane (I'm referring to the ratings on US pumps of course). The consequence is reduced 'powah'.
There is a thread about octane somewhere here.

Dynamic AFAIK changes the throttle setting, EG pressing the accelerator 1" tells the ECU one thing in NORMAL, another thing in DYNAMIC.

If, as a human being, you press the pedal enough to 'feel good', fuel usage would be about the same.

Some owners in the past liked to brag about high gasoline usage/low MPG. The inference being, if you got more than 15 MPG, you were hypermiling...

No, not about gas price, about performance. With less exhaust restriction has anyone discovered any improvement in mpg/mpk.

What's mpk? Hope it's not miles per kilometre since that'd always be same (viz. 0.6214 miles).

And if you're getting more than 15 mpg the car is clearly wasted on you!

Back to the suspension question.... Here are my two cents...

I actually find the dynamic suspension better for rough roads. The dampers handle the bumpiness better than normal/standard mode and setting the car much quicker. Since the roads around me suck 11 out of 12 months of the year, I prefer dynamic the majority of the time. I have done a few business trips in the F-Type and for normal highways the standard suspension was quite comfy. However, if it hits the rough stuff, try dynamic. You might like it better that it settles the car quicker.

Actually, I was think of Kiloliters but that might be a bit much(liters).
I am well past my road racing/drag racing days. Do not need to prove anything to anyone as to speed, hp, etc. Did the drive-in cruising in high school. A little past that now. I have the power available when I want it, but prefer to remain a bit sane in my driving habits. I will leave the 'power trips' to those who are 'mascularly' challenged.

What's that, where you "drive in" to a cruise? How would you not?

I kid, I kid, and am old enough to remember drive-ins as well.

I sort of thought the same thing driving around where I live. I have been experimenting with dynamic and normal modes on all sorts of roads. I guess for the long drive, normal mode should be used. Also, since the car is brand new, I will bring a car cushion as the leather is still stiff.

MPG…my old man driving on the highway in normal mode between 65-70MPH has given me about 28MPG. That’s better than advertised and with only 1000 miles on the odometer.
