Exhaust squeal, dealer says it's normal no fix
I am getting a squeal coming from my exhaust kind of sounds like a belt slipping. Brought the car to the dealer they said it was coming from the exhaust valves so they replaced that and that somehow made it worse, it now happens more often. Took it back to the dealer and was told they tested an F-Type they had there and it made the same noise and it's "normal". After searching the forum I see a few other members had the same problem and had their exhaust replaced under warranty.
Should I contact JLRNA about replacing the exhaust or should I take it to another dealer 45 miles away? Had a follow up email from the service manager I replied telling her the issue and asking if I should contact JLRNA or if that is something she would do and did not receive a response.
Thanks

There is a issue originally on the valves when opening and closong. I would call it a squeel . More like a squeek. The new exhuast muffler have sintered bushings to stop this. "if" this is indeed your issue, that was the fix for several i ran into. Not common however, but when they do it, its noticable

Thanks Brutal...so I could just replace the bushings? I've seen a few on here that had their whole exhaust system replaced. Pretty sure that is what is going on with my car. I can recreate it by taking the car up to 5000 RPMs and letting off the gas 3rd or 4th gear.

A high temp silicone grease should work as well (chain lubes also silicone based). Actually, a spray-on chain lube should be just the ticket.
As someone with squeaking/grinding valves, I can only hear them at lower revs, with the the top down (IIRC). They open & close a lot around 1500-1800RPM. But I wouldn’t be able to hear them at all at higher revs and faster speeds - engine and exhaust noise plus road noise should cover up the valve noise.
And, you would probably only hear that in dynamic mode, with switchable active exhaust switched off (if you have that option). As I have a MY14, the F43 fuse trick works for me, and I’ve installed a dongle that lets me open the valves 100% of the time, same as removing F43. So I can live with the squeaky valves, as I leave them open most of the time.
