I'm not sure it would survive the heat. I've never used Plasti-Dip though, so that's just a guess.

I think that it might hold up decently, but will never come off properly and be a mess. I bought a set of winter wheels and tires that were plasti-dipped. Never again. Such a pain too remove.

Based on experience, I can say for certain that a wrap on the valance won’t stand up to the exhaust heat. I can’t imagine that Plastidip applied directly to the pipes could possibly survive.

My local shop charges like $200 for ceramic coating. Seems like money well spent to me...

Plastidip comes off better if there are lots of coats. I dont think that the exhaust tips get terribly hot on the F Type (at least on the V6), I'd think it was worth a go. It essentially costs $30 to coat something in plastidip, so it is a cheap mod. You have to mask everything well though as the spray gets everywhere. I plastidipped a spoiler for my daughter's car in the bathroom, my wife went berserker as there was residue pretty much everywhere even though I put a sheet down.

Plastidip specs their temp range up to 200F (93C in real money).

I can promise you, certainly after a spirited drive in a V8, the tips are hotter than that.

+1. When I still had the dual exhaust on my V6, I burnt my leg pretty badly when I brushed up against it wearing shorts. Had that grilled meat aroma.

If you just want them black, just don’t wash them when you wash the car.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. I wouldn’t think it would be a good long-term solution (as others have said) but if you just wanted to test color ideas it might be ok.

I didn’t think anyone was serious.

The only reason I thought of that was because recently a coworker told me how much she liked my matte black wheels..... uhhhh that’s brake dust. And yes I still have Pirellis.

My “pretty matte” wheels

Finally decided to wait on doing plastidip on the exhaust. Just did the rear badge in Anthracite Grey Satin to match window trim, side skirt and front spoiler.
Looks wayy better and more grey in person
