Problem is they never once said what flavour of F-Type it is, all they ever said was "Jaguar F-Type". I can only guess they are prevented from giving more info about the car because it could be seen as advertising.

[QUOTE=Queen and Country;1805388]It increases the value- no different that the 2.0 did for Audi
It opens a wider pool of would be buyers (due to fuel consumption- and insurance rates)
Now people actually know Jaguar is still in business and then they find Jaguar makes a supercharged 5l V8.[/Q

2.0l is great !
I'm 26 years old, and I wanted :
A funny daily driver !
A car to make approximately 3000 km a month !
A car that looks awesome.
A car that meet the budget of a 26 years old guy.
A car with a waranty and included services during 4 years.
Well, the Jaguar F-Type 2.0L is perfect for that !
It's as fast as the V6 340hp and consume less fuel, and the 2.0L is 10k less expensive in Europe.
I try the V6 and V8 on road, also the V8 on track. And I swear that each morning, with the sun, the snow or the rain I have a huge smile on the face when i take the wheel of my 2.0L F-Type.
By the way as it was said before 99% of the people look at this car thinking it cost more than 130k ! Not a lot of people can say which engine it's inside.
And don't worry, I will buy a real V12 6.0L engine when i will be older ( around 35 ), but to begin this 2.0L is perfect !

Meh! On the other hand, the 2.0 turbo auto is just 0.1 second slower 0-60 than the manual 380hp V6 'S' (!), gets better gas mileage, is significantly lighter on the front end, and should rock those lighter stock 18" wheels. Oh, and its $21,300 less expensive at the 'starting price'... In fact, its only a few 10ths of a second behind *any* of the V6 models...
sounds like a deal to me...

If you take a drive in the 2.0 you'll see it's a drivers car, and anyone driving one is as classy and it looks as classy as another one, sure if someone isn't interested, that's their personal choice.

I don't care much one way or the other; yes, a cheaper F type impacts all current owners in a negative way....OTOH, I'm sure it's a nice car, it's a good thing if it helps Jaguar remain viable and, well, 4cyl turbos are the way of the future.....not hard to see. Did I miss anything or do we know the actual weight difference between the 4cyl vs. the V6? ...regardless, the F type will never be truly light and I doubt the engine weight difference will be able to make up for the power deficit on a track.....doesn't mean it isn't a fun car to drive though.
Cheers,

That is also the case with the XEs, I've driven the XE S (what you call the 30T) which has the base supercharged 6 in it, and the XE 25T which has the ecoboost 4, the 25T is definitely pointier in steering and handles better, though I thought the engine in the 6 was a better match for the transmission.

I don’t feel the 2.0 cheapens the brand etc as has been said, and I know it will make for a sweeter handling car - but... there’s only so much you can do with a 4 cylinder in terms of soundtrack. Exhausts can’t work miracles. The only decent sounding 4’s I have heard are flat 4’s in Subaru’s.

I would be happy to see more F-Types. That means that there will be a longer parts supply chain for things used in common. I have the V8S and LOVE it. The great thing is that the Range Rover lads also use the exact same engine in the V8 powered Range Rovers. That means that I can hopefully run my V8S for a VERY long time.
