Default F-Type Fire

I was at Sonoma Raceway over weekend. A new F-Type coupe caught fire while on the track. A loud noise, and then smoke came out of hood/engine compartment. Jag was not racing, but going around the track at a good pace. Anyone else have this problem?

Never been to Sonoma, so no. Do many cars catch fire there? I understand Ferrari 458s regularly catch fire, so maybe owners of these cars should steer clear of Sonoma.

It may be the cars and not the track that's the problem?? Hope not!

Sonoma Raceway is not known for car fires. The straights are not terribly long. I think it works the brakes more, at least for me. The straights aren't really long enough for them to cool down.

That said, I have not had the F-Type out there.

The loud noise followed by smoke from the engine bay sounds more like a blown engine, with oil catching fire on the hot exhaust.

Also, there are at least 3 recall notices(seat belt tensioner, loose alternator cable, improperly installed pulley belt) out for F-Types, and at least one of those for the loose alternator wire causing fires.

The noise and resulting fire at Sonoma is reminiscent of another instances previously reported:https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2/#post1268049

Any idea if the Sonoma car was a V6 or V8?
