Question Morning noise/hit

Hello,
I have some strange noise somewhere. It's appears only at morning (at cold car), when the car first time changes from 1 to 2 gear (maybe from 2 to 3) I can hear some hitting noise somewhere in drivetrain. It's happening only one time, after stopping (even after few seconds after it happened) the noise/ hit never appears until the next morning. It's reminds me something similar to- after living a car on handbrake at winter when it's freezing, (-20 - -30) handbrake freeze to disks and when you start moving its lets go.
I cannot understand what's that, handbrake, transmission, engine... maybe someone had/ have something similar?

How fast are you going at the time? The car runs a self test on the ABS anti lock braking system when pulling away after start up. A noticeable clunk felt through the pedals. Mine is usually by about 10mph I think. The first time I pull away after starting the car

It's about 10-20 mph. I will check that tomorrow morning

Yes, it's happening at the speed ~10 mph, I think somewhere at the front.
Thx BritCars, for your answer i will consider that its ABS check, there's no errors

That's interesting. I've been experiencing much the same thing but kind of assumed it was my control arm bushings going out. Should it really be making such a clunk?

Thanks DK

n8ertot - does it do it just once each journey? Or lots of times eg over bumps? If lots of times then yes - could be control arm bushings. But if once I'm guessing it's the abs

Not sure if it should be that loud - I don't remember noticing it at first when I had the car but I definitely hear it now. Particularly when I pull away in my work garage underground (slow speed for a while and no other road noise). I half hear it and half feel it through the front pedals

It's not unusual - I remember my old Volvo doing the same years ago with a sort of buzzing as it tested

Just once per journey, and it's definitely a feel/hear sensation. Sounds like it's nothing to worry about. Thanks!
