F-type quit on highway
2017 Jag F-TypeV6 base with 20,000 miles, engine just quit while on the highway. I have no idea why, there was still ¼ tank of fuel. I had just put on my signal light to take the exit when the engine quit.
I tried to restart several times with no luck. When trying to start it would turn over but would not start it gave me the impression that it was out of gas. Had the car towed to the nearest Land Rover dealer. As soon as the car was off the flatbed a mechanic started the car as if nothing had happened, the only clue was the check engine light was on steady not flashing.
I checked with the dealer late yesterday and now the car shows no symptom no lights and no codes. The O2 sensor is ok, the injectors are also ok. Has anyone ever experienced these symptoms? Thank you for any assistance you may offer, your input would be appreciated

Well my 2017 F Type has quit again on the highway looks like the same issue as before. XK Dreams posted that I should check the battery connection, which I did with no solution.
The last time this happened I had 1/4 tank of fuel remaining, this time I had 1/8 tank remaining. The last time when the car was delivered to the dealer and removed from the flatbed the car started.
The car was driven for another 50KM with an OBD connected looking for any indication of an issue with the fuel system and no issues were found. I have put over 1500km on the car since with no issues.
This time when the car quit on the highway as indicated the fuel remaining was 1/8 tank. this time when the car was removed from the flatbed it would not start. two hours later after fuel was added the car started.
After the first incident I was under the impression that the LP fuel pump was the issue. After this last episode with the car starting once fuel was added sure negates the belief that the LP pump is at issue.
I am trying to understand how the fuel pump and it's sensors work and now believe the issue may be with the (FPDM) fuel pump delivery module or with the ECM thinking there is no fuel in the tank and triggering an engine shutdown.
Has anyone experienced this issue with their F type?
Any help is appreciated.

The clue is in that first CEL and low level of fuel in the gas tank.
The first time you had a CEL but no specific fault code was saved and time-stamped to explain it? The dealer cleared it? Or did it go away by itself?
Did you get a CEL the second time?
@DJS had this happen (faulty fuel gauge?) - maybe he can help https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...0/#post2793549

Yup, I eventually ran out of gas, with the cluster showing 1/8 tank and 48 miles to empty. Now, it rarely shows less than 1/2 tank, so I use the trip odometer to keep track. Note that if the engine dies from lack of fuel, the correct procedure (shown in the Owner’s Handbook) is to add at least a couple of gallons, turn on the ignition without starting the engine, then let it sit for 5 minutes so it can recharge the fuel system. After that, mine fired right up.
My issue is pretty clearly a sender unit (there are two). I may attempt this repair myself at some point - there’s an access panel behind the passenger seat, so theoretically, the tank doesn’t have to be dropped.

Thank youn for your reply. I should have mentioned the codes that appeared at the first incident.
Codes: P0089-64, P0C6-00, P08A-07.
Unfortunately, I do not have the codes for the last episode. I believe it was to do with low fuel pressure.
Hope this helps.
Thanks again for your help

Those are indeed low fuel pressure codes.
If it only happens when the fuel tank is low then that suggests your pumps are OK but you may have a vapor lock or vacuum leak (gas cap or filler tube).
Did the dealer just send you away with no diagnosis? There is a TSB for the filler tube issue so it could be a covered repair. Good luck and please report back.

Great thank you nothing has been done yet I will confirm that the TSB has been addressed. So far they suspect the Fuel Pump Drive Module. I am not sure where it is located but this is also my suspicion, as the low pressure pump works when fuel was added. I need to get to the bottom of this I have no confidence with the car.
Thank's again
