Default F-Type R Suspension Mods

Has anyone done any mods to soften the suspension on F-Type R? As much as I like the car, I find the ride too be on the firm side for my taste. I have seen lowering springs but nothing to improve the ride compliance. I have played with Dynamic & Normal suspension setting and honestly can’t tell the difference.

The only thing I could think of would be a custom valved coilover.

No expert here, but made sure my F-Type had 18" wheels. When I bought my 2013 XF I ordered it with 18" wheels after driving ones with 19" and 20" wheels.
Air pressure also makes a big difference as I found out when my F was delivered with 51 PSI tire pressure all around.
My F is a daily driver and I don't want to feel like I'm in a buckboard, especially on longer jaunts.

18" wheels wouldn't fit over the R brakes, but I think 19" should. Something to consider.

Thanks and I agree with you, smaller wheels will improve the ride, buy I really like the look of the 20" wheels. I have set the pressure to 32 all around, I may go down to 30 and try that.

I bought my F-Type as daily driver also and I test drove 2 of them before buying, however, both dealers were located along freeways and the ride seemed supple and pleasant on smooth freeways. It is on bumpy road that firmness becomes a problem.

You princesses need to toughen up. Start by taking up long distance cycling. By comparison any car ride will feel soft and luxurious. lol

While I agree with Unhingd, this is one area I feel Jaguar has shorted the F-Type buyer. I test drove several Vettes before buying the Jag, and the magnetorheological suspension on the Vette was more adjustable. There is no "soft" setting on the Jag, and though I usually prefer the harder settings, it is nice to have the soft setting available for certain situations...

When driving I don't much notice ride quality differences between Normal and Dynamic, but I had a passenger note the difference.

"The ride is pretty stiff."
<click> "How about now?"
"Yes, that's more comfortable."

I have 19's (Centrifuge, I think they're called) and the same brakes as the R. It's tight, but they clear.

Airbags? (AKA "bagged" suspension).
Commonly used to lower cars "on their guts" but adjustable so the car can be raised back up to a more normal height.
Dunno how a "bagged" F-Type at normal height would ride, maybe softer than stock, maybe not, who knows, maybe someone who has run a bagged car can fill us in.
It seems there is at least one bagged F-Type out there, see here:
Warning - 95% of this vid is c..p, and the F-Type bit is mainly from 11.35 to 12.12.

sorry..I’m all for lowering (a lot), but that looks like crap. You can take a good thing too far.

I believe that this is the "resting" height, but that to actually move the vehicle, the bags are inflated.

But yeah, I get it. It's a style of which I'm not enamored.
