Default Suspension mods... Let's say ARB?

Hey guys,

so, I'm getting the parts in now for my front axle overhaul. New springs, shocks and co.

A good question that popped up: is the ARB (anti roll bar) as fitted to standard XJ's worth upgrade ng to the one from the XJR? I've seen sales on eBay station that the XJ Sport ARB is a lot more rigid than the standard one. And then that the XJR one is more rigid and stiffer than the one from the XJ Sport.

What I am after is very little bodyroll. The Autobahn exits here are enough to make the 1.8t car lean quite badly. I would like it basically planted. I know it can be achieved, as I have seen it before.

I already have the rear ARB, though it isn't really a biggun... Is it worth whipping the XJR one in there too?

What thickness is the standard ARB vs. the Sport vs. the XJR? Front and rear? And any tips on the ARB endlinks? I can get some Meyle Heavy Duty ones, though I doubt that they would actually help much...

Cheers Guys!

The route you're looking at making is a compromise, to do it correctly you'd need springs/shocks/ARB's/Bushes/brackets. My suggestion = Buy an R.

Springs and shocks (uprated) are already ordered.

Buying an R is out of question. They cost far too much here. And a RHD as a daily driver is too much. Especially since the fuel would set me back far too much and my license would be even quick-R in danger!

I think you will have to do a part # comparison to see if it's actually different w/the R

The sport was never intended to be a non-SC XJR .. it was a sporty XJ. Jaguar was up against more advanced designs from BMW/MB ... and a complaint of too soft ride w/ the XJ. Many felt the R too harsh .. that's why they moved to the CATS. The sport is a middle ground as intended.

A friend of mine modified a VDP with a sport wreck .. I think the bars just bolt on.

Here is some information on upgrading the rear bar from the X300 sub-forum, Andy (the author) does have modified end links for the front as well:

I'd like something along the lines of a Sport, just with a lot less bodyroll. Took an exit on the A1 today. The bodyroll is what keeps me from going faster The car would easily do it. But it just roooooolls like an old vessel in a bad storm

Due to luck, I've managed to source a front ARB from an XJ Sport as well as from an XJR. As it is only a quick job to replace, I'll be able to see if I can find that rollbar (front), which I want. The rear ARB was factory fitted but I'll see how that reacts with a different front one.

If I can decrease the roll significantly, I'll be happy. If not to the full desired level, then out with the old rear ARB and in with the uprated one from Powerhouse.
