Could be anything. I see people coming close to the same thing every day texting or dialing while driving.
While it wasn't his/her fault, the F-Type driver didn't see it coming, and I've avoided many accidents by constantly scanning my mirrors for situations just like that.
WOW Just saw this on YouTube. Can you be THAT bad of a driver or was this some type of road rage?!? How can you just ram into another car like that?
Yeah I saw that a few days ago... I was debating whether I should post that here or not.
But yeah, it looks to me like the driver of the truck just wasn't paying attention and clipped the Jag when trying to change lanes. Then ran when they realized what happened.
Either way the driver of the truck should be in jail for hit and run. Hopefully they managed to catch the driver by now.
Looked to me like the truck driver was either falling asleep or texting.
I can't believe he didn't stop. Also the driver could well have been injured - he didn't get out of the car.
Truck driver was a total scumbag.
I also think this kind of incident would never happen to me. I always am the fastest guy on the section of the highway - because it avoids two risks - one is this kind of incident, and the other is it eliminates the risk of an unmarked police car creeping up on me from behind (if I am the one coming from behind I can spot their plates and slow down).
This looks like to be in SoCal. I recognize the Auto Center on the right and the freeway merger on the left.
-My guess though is the truck was changing lanes as his blinker was on.
-The truck driver didn't see the F Type because it was in his "blind spot" by the trucks passenger side door.
-As a result, the door was in the truck driver's line of sight, making the F Type not visible.
Next time you drive next to a truck, you'll see a little window or porthole on the lower part of the doors to prevent this.

Its not even like the F-Type was in his blind spot therefore you could lay some blame. The F-Type was in front of it. How in hell could he not see it? Either asleep or drunk or its road rage. Either way this is ugly.

More than likely texting or eating,or drinking,or fumbling with something...in other words...everything but driving.

Ever been in a truck? Watch it again. In the video..the truck clips the Jags driverside quarter panel. Add these factors for the truck..long and raised engine hood, door blocking the truck drivers' line of sight and the Jag just being in the wrong spot. Its just all the ingredients finally coming together.
Try this at home. Put a kids tricycle or powerwheels by your front passenger wheel of your Jag. Get in the driver seat and tell me if you can see it from where you are. In theory, you are elevated and have more glass to view through..but the Jag's hood, A-pillar and passenger door ultimately hinder your line of sight.
Thats what I perceive from the video. Ultimately the truck driver should have been cautious. I'm not looking to stir anything. Just saying it how I see it!

Regardless of whether the F-Type was in the truck's blind spot, the driver should have pulled over. Accidents happen, but there is no excuse for hit and run. Its not like the driver could claim they didn't realize what happened.

I remember seeing a medium sized hatchback broadside on to the front bumper of a truck being pushed at speed along the opposite lane of the M25 some years ago. The truck's brake lights were on when I looked back on the mirror, but...

Rule of thumb ... if you cannot see the other driver, he can't see you either.
