@bfrank1972 that looks like the real deal - raised lettering and a QR code stamp.

The ones you received appear aftermarket. I don't believe there is an JLR OEM rear pipe in metal. I do like how they package them with JLR labels though, pretty crafty!

For your rear pipe: Does the flange have 2 (V8) or 3 (V6) bolt holes? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...5/#post2587271

If you do decide to install that metal rear pipe take it apart first and check the canal for obstructions: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post2743741

I am returning the complete kit that arrived.

On the rear pipe, thank you for calling that out. Good to know. I will do so with the next one that I receive.

Flange has 3 bolt holes since it was going to go in a V6, but great to know what the differences are. I was not aware that, for that rear pipe, V8 and V6 were different.

I sure hope that I do not jinx it...

Parts are in at the Jaguar dealer. They are doing the work between today and tomorrow. If all goes well I should be driving over to pick it up on Monday.

From what I was told this is what was done at the Jaguar dealer:

Engine cover - Part number T2R20744
Coolant line from expansion tank - Part number T4A1783
All 6 injectors and spark plugs
Vacuum line - I still do not have the part number for the one they replaced

I will get a copy of the work order from the dealer when I pick up the car.

Following this thread has been one hell of a roller coaster! I looked back and it seems you never got to drive the car, listed a few issues that the sellers would take care of but then all of a sudden we see injectors, plugs replaced... Car is misfiring? What a mess!

For online service history, all you need is the car VIN which any seller should gladly provide then go to http://osh.jaguar.com/ you'll be able to see the whole history yourself.

I hope this journey has taught you a thing or two about what you need to get clarified before buying a sports car like an F-type or going crazy on spare parts.

Ah bummer!! Probably for the best, these are great cars and if maintained are reliable, but they are very sensitive to preventative maintenance (which many folks ignore). Might want to try private for sale ads and get to know the owner a bit. Ideally find someone who knows these cars and is an afficionado.

I hear you. Thankfully, not a lot was lost. I did not have the tools purchased, so those were a good addition to my toolbox. The only spare parts I got were the wheels and two hose clips. The coolant pipes are being returned for the issue posted earlier. I plan on getting an F-Type, so they will come handy for when I finally find one to buy.

When I looked at the car, it looked pristine. I was not able to drive it, but I was able to test most of the electrical functionality. And I really liked the color combination. I did have the VIN and got the CarFax. I also spoke to the local Jaguar dealer, here in Ocala, to get a look of the history in their system (CarFax is not as detailed as a dealer can be). There were really no red flags until the call yesterday from the seller.

FYI, https://osh.jaguar.com/home did not give me any records for the VIN of this car... but again, that was never a problem as I was able everything I needed from the local dealer.

The feedback from the folks here in the forum, was super valuable as I did not know the specifics for these cars. The common issues to look out for. On that front, I learned a lot! And from the several threads read, videos watched, etc. I was ready to tackle anything with at least some basic knowledge.

What I also learned on this short journey is that I still want a V6 or V8 version of this car... 2019 or newer would be even better because I really like the looks of both generations headlights and prefer the newer looking audio/media display that was included from 2019 on. Also love the looks and feel of sitting in the sportier seats, so would like the car to have those over the other options that I have seen...

These style seats:

The search continues...

So here is so you all understand how easy is for me to make such stupid decisions…

First car, the reason for this thread, was for sale for an out the door price of US$36,200.00 . I already shared the outcome of that…car was located in Jacksonville, FL. That is two hours away (one way).

Today I went to look at a 2023 P450 at the Jaguar dealer in Sarasota, FL. So another two hours drive there…asking price was US$58,000. After all BS add-ons they were asking, out the door, close to US$69,000!! I did take the car for a test drive… passenger headlight needed to be replaced. The inside had a damp, musty smell…

But what a beautiful car… The lowest that I could get it out the door was US$65K… even with CPO adding an additional year of warranty (for a total of two), everything kept telling me to walk away… by this I mean that my wife was with me and said “heck no!!”

So we decided to drive back home to Ocala, FL… with no F-Type.

As we are getting closer to home, she tells me to drive to the local Jaguar of Ocala dealer, since it is in the way… to see if they got any trade-ins. We get there and there are no used F-Type… only a brand new Final Edition inside the showroom. Only delivery miles (12 miles, if I remember correctly)

Sales lady opens the doors, gives me the keys and tells me to go and take it for a drive… son of a gun…

I thought I had achieved control of my impulsive nature… nope…

Drove off with a new F-Type that will depreciate like a frigging lead brick… carp…

At least I have the peace of mind of a 5 years warranty, services (I do plan on doing oil changes more often than what the service intervals call for), and no issues popping up from a previous owner…

My new baby…
My new baby…

Time to end this thread and start the ownership thread... going to be a bit boring as I doubt I will make changes to this one... But it is something I like to do to document any work that I do in my cars.

See? There's always the right one for you out there, if you have a bit of patience! Enjoy!

Enjoy it! Remember to follow the break in guidance and change oil at 1K miles then at 3K miles and every 3K miles going forward. I'd get a good vacuum extractor and the appropriate filter cap tool to have it done at home.

I have the vacuum extractor. I will order the filter cap wrench as I do not believe I have one that would fit this car.

I do plan to perform oil changes often. Service intervals listed in the manual areat 16,000 miles! No way. My plan is to do them every 3K miles even if it is an overkill...

Break-in suggested in the manual is at 2K miles. But I will be doing the first oil change at 1K miles.
