Ever since I participated in the Jaguar ride and drive event in Carmel, CA last month, I have been hooked on replacing my BMW 535i for something fun with soul. After finding the car I wanted, a week of negotiating over the phone and walking out of the dealership when they wouldn’t meet my low ball below invoice offer, I was finally able to obtain a great deal on an F-Type S and took delivery on Sunday.

I’ve been driving BMW’s for many years now and still like the brand, but like many, I feel they have lost their way a bit by trying to be everything to everyone. Like another new member on this forum, zerphyte, I was about to order a 435i convertible, but I just didn’t get the same special feeling after test driving two of them before deciding to pursue the F-Type.

Black wasn’t my first choice, but it looks great. I searched for hundreds of miles and this was the only car that had all the option packages I wanted. Plus the dealer, with 20 F-Types on the lot, was highly motivated to move it.

I have only had the car a short time and it is funny to see the reactions of people who know the F-Type is something special, but cannot figure out what it is.

Thanks! Not that I have anything against BMW, but I do like driving something fairly exclusive and not as well known as a BMW. So far, I have let 4 co-workers and family members drive my car and they all walked away with the biggest smiles ever.
