Wait, full throttle won't overpower the brakes?

It won't, but doing this isn't good for your AT so don't start doing it at every red light...

I have a vague recollection of a drag racing thread that specifically said don’t rev with the brake on as it will bog when you lift the brake. I’m assuming Casper 83 you have had success with the “brake on floor it “ method ?
thanks

The V6S has a launch mode that increases the stall speed of the torque converter. Involves applying the brake. I’m not familiar with the technique since I don’t have an AT.

Press the brake pedal and hold with the left
foot.
Select either Drive (D) or Sport (S).
Using the right foot, lightly press the
accelerator pedal until the Message centre
displays DYNAMIC LAUNCH READY.
5. Release the brake pedal, then quickly press
the accelerator pedal to the kickdown
position. The Message centre will display
DYNAMIC LAUNCH ACTIVE.
Note: Any manual gear selection, from the gear
selector or steering wheel gearshift paddles,
will override the Dynamic launch operation.
Dynamic launch will remain available for further
use after a short period of time.
Note: Dynamic launch will not be active when
the accelerator pedal is released from a high
demand position.
Prolonged application of the brake pedal will
deactivate Dynamic launch.
Note: Dynamic launch is not fitted to all
derivatives.

I believe my 2018 R also has a launch mode that involves holding the break and pressing the gas until a certain RPM. I read that somewhere and I thought it was in the manual. I’ll have to check.

Nup, no V8 F-Type has ever had launch mode it is and was only ever available on the V6S.
You need to be wary of what the Owner Manual / Handbook says as it is generic across all variants of that model year so it included everything that could possibly be on any model.

Bzzzt! It's available on the 4-pot, too.

Yep, it’s in the manual under DYNAMIC LAUNCH. It does state that “The dynamic launch system is dependent on the specification of the vehicle”. Not a very clear manual. Lesson learned.

It's strange that it would be available on the I-4, but not the base V6.

+1. There's no need on the V8, as it has plenty of torque from idle to spin the tires. The V6, however, needs all the help it can get.
