Default Fuel Level Not Showing

Question on my 2017 v6. Had car sit for a few days like it normally does from time to time as it’s not a daily. Fired up this am and fuel not reading on guage and says empty. I had a quarter tank when parked last. Went to fill up to see if that would rectify the problem but it did not. The battery isn’t old and was changed last year and no cel or anything like that on dash. Anyone dealt with this before?

I don't recall this being a reported problem on F-Types, but on other cars it's generally a problem with the sensor inside the tank.

My gauge hasn’t worked since 2021, and even then it never went below ‘48 miles to empty’, even when I ran out of gas on I-90 in MN. Presumably, a bad sender. Haven’t done anything about it yet, I use the trip odometer as an approximate gas gauge.

Did the dealer or Indy ever diagnose and quote on this job? Nice to know no issues apart from not knowing the fuel level. I can track mileage as well.

The dealer didn’t diagnose but said it was probably the sender. They thought replacing the pump while they were in there was a good idea. I have their estimate, but I’m on the road for a week or two. I may end up doing it myself. You don’t have to drop the tank, there’s an access port behind the seats.

Please do let me know what the estimate was when you can and thanks for the insight on not having to drop the tank. I did a battery reset just to check and still same. Now not showing the mileage / fuel details that are generally on the dash. Same for you?

No, mine now shows mostly full all the time, pretty much never drops below half a tank. I’d say the float is stuck on mine (if they still use floats) while maybe yours failed electrically?

Default An idea...

try running can/bottle of fuel injector/carb cleaner through for at least 2 fillups. Make sure the concentration rate listed for the cleaner is for the amount of gas you have/or are putting in. I/E...'treats 15 gallons, treats 20 gallons" etc.
