Default GEICO experiences?

Hey all, so I just ran an online quote for my cars using GEICO and can save $1250 a year over my current insurance! Dang… Just wondering if anyone has used him and what their experiences were.
Thanks!

I have been insured with Geico for 38 years. Unfortunately, I have had the occasional need to engage with their claims department. However, if you have to undergo that process, I can't image any company that could handle it more efficiently or painlessly. They actually embed permanent claims agents at highly acclaimed local body shops to assess the damage in tandem with a body shop estimator. Repairs completed by the affiliated repair shop (though, not required) are guarantied by GEICO for as long as you own the car.

I use Liberty mutual and the F-Type runs me around $1170.00 a year. I used them once for a claim on my wife's Range Rover, the process was super fast and totally painless, they have adjusters floating between the major body shops in the area all day long. I had Geico for 20 years before that, hated their usual price increases because "of the area". They even had the audacity to send out one of their "SIU Investigators" sit around my neighborhood for a week to investigate why we have 8 cars and who else besides my wife and I drive them (nobody). that truly upset me in the way it was done, he was hiding on private property and when I approached him as to why he was sitting on my road he was incredibly rude and it required the police to respond. That left a bad taste in my mouth and left for a better deal anyway.

What a pack of idiots. I would be wanting to know when you are getting car #9. They are your cars, drive them if and when you want to.

Obviously there's a wide range of premiums for different markets - and even the same company may price more aggressively in some areas vs others. FWIW, I checked Geico when I last shopped insurance, but found a couple of other carriers that were cheaper. I'm with Hartford and the annual premium for the F-Type is $610.

Yeh, I don't like an insurance company that treats me like the enemy. That's been friend's experience with geico, though I am sure they are fine with "normal" clients. I have state farm. I have the F-type AND another car both full insurance and it's around $1,400/year total.

Thanks!

I've used them for 8 years or so. Very reasonable rates with only minor increases year over year (with no tickets/accidents anyway). I got excellent service when one of my cars was totaled. There was no hassle, no waiting for payment, paid out the market value using reasonable proxies. My rates went up a lot after that, but that's the way it goes. Previous to GEICO I used Allstate and while they had fantastic service as well, premiums were extremely high.

OP,

Since you are in Cali, you have to get a quote from Wawanesa Insurance. They are a preferred carrier, so if your driving record is very good, they are tough to beat. As in my F type R is $500/yr as my 2nd vehicle. They have smoked Geico and all other carriers for me, been with them 15+ years.

Same for me. My car was wrecked (not at fault) on a Friday, totaled Monday at the body shop (which had an embedded adjuster) and had my check Tuesday. They paid out more than I was trying to sell the car for at the time, so no complaints. Thinking about changing now to Chubb or Pure, but not for any reason related to Gieco.

Chawumba wow! I thought I was doing pretty well until I saw this! Mine is also second car and is only a V6S. Have you ever had to file a claim? How is their claims process? Will definitely check them out! Thanks!

Everyone has pros/negs of every carrier, impossible to choose on any major criteria but cost.

GEICO was great for me a couple of years back. When my van tools were stolen and I had to file my first Liberty Mutual claim in 20+ years they fought me tooth and nail in my payout. So, you just never know.

Default Geico is GREAT

I've had Geico for close to 30 years. I've NEVER had one problem with any claim. Unless something crazy happens, I'll have them for life!

A plane is flying over our neighborhood, as I write this, pulling a huge GEICO banner asking for business.

Only ever had to put in one claim with Wawanesa, they had someone drive to my work, inspect the car, wrote a quote and offered 3 places to get it fixed, or I could choose one of my own. I'd say it was pretty painless.

insurance varies by so many factors (location, age, use, mileage, number of cars, car makes and models) it's impossible to say a certain company has good rates or not over the other, the only thing is to shop around as much as possible. My experience with geico is it's very similar to progressive in terms of rates and making claims

Plus the Bro commercials would be enough to get my business. Very entertaining. Can't stand that hag Flo.
