Cool Getting a new key

Question for the group: Just got my new-to-me F-type Coupe R, but only one key from the old owner.

Jaguar says that a second key is $443.00, and $175 To reprogram it. Plus tax

ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS? Surely someone has a better way than spending that much on a key.... Not that I would expect to lose the key, but....

Congrats on your new R Coupe. What year? Pictures? I believe there is a workaround to where you don't have to pay nearly that much. I would do a search on this forum for replacement key fob .

Reprogram? I was under impression that you could just hold it next to that special spot to have it synchronized. Is this not the case?

I did a search but nothing came up? Maybe because I am new user, it won't let me?

Anyway, I just got the car from NY (I am in Phoenix) and will have some pics soon.

Well, they say the key needs special ordered and then must be programmed.
There seems to be a LOT of misinformation on the web (ha, big surprise) including someone who thinks that you have to get TWO new keys, and reprogram both (anti-theft concern)..

The dealer says that isn't the case.

There are aftermarket ones, and used OEM ones on the web. Of course, they wouldn't have the bypass key but if those could be reprogrammed they would be a lot cheaper. Of course, the dealer won't tell me that....

Thanks, this is what I gleen from all of this. Grab your wallet, go to dealer, and be glad you don't own an Aston Martin, I think they have one model where the key is $35,000..

I didn't read through it all, but Cambo (moderator) had some comments. He is quite reliable with his info.
