Default Gloss black front splitter question

On the SVR the lower blade in the centre grille is gloss black, and on mine quite pitted and marked from stone chips, at least for my OCD standards, i'm assuming you can't machine polish down something like that without ruining it? I read about removal on another thread and it looks like a fair bit of work, is the only other option to Wrap it in situ? anyone done that to any degree of success?

I would just have a shop wrap it in glossy black 3M film.

I am going to make a sep thread but maybe you can help. I have an SVR as well... I have it in the shop for full bumper XPEL and the hood... I may have him do the rockers/skirts... are yours sandblasted or what areas have you seen need paint protection film coverage?

On my C7 Z06 it was a must to do in front and behind the rear wheel wells.

hindsight is a wonderful thing, I didn't PPF any of the car and regret that now, I go on a lot of drives with other people on country roads where the road rash factor is a bit higher than I expected, I can tell you that on mine, its all concentrated on the font bumper section, 2 years and 20k miles on nothing on the side skirts or rear arches, (not sure what you mean by rockers) one or two tiny chips on the bonnet but reality you could PPF the front bumper alone and it would be fine, I'm going to try drcolourchip in a week or so but thats not going to do the gloss black, given i've other carbon on the car, I might wrap that lower blade in carbon if I can get a close match.

That is good to know especially since you drive on country roads. I am in the suburbs so have a fair share of those roads and many are not in the best condition to say the least.

My bumper will be wrapped including the black bar piece, and the full hood which is massive so covers a good chunk of the front fenders. I really didn't want to spend more for the side skirts or rear arches, and the car does have ceramic coating on it which will help a little bit as its like another level of clear coat and hardens.

I had all the gloss black pieces, including the splitter wrapped in matte black. IMO, the gloss black looks like cheap plastic by comparison.

Do you have any pics? I never considered doing flat black on those pieces
