Default Help - got leather wax on synthetic dash cover

Yes - I cant believe I did this - before I realised that the snakeskin looking stuff on the top of the dash was synthetic (so obvious now) I smeared a leather wax/conditioner on it and so I have shiny patches. I have tried soap and water but with no real success. Any other ideas?

More conditioner, to make it uniform?

I have had a similar issue with the leather dash of my other car. If I'm not careful, the finish looks darker in the spots where I apply more Hide Food than others.

I suggest you try some Aerospace 303 protectant.
Quite good for cleaning leather, vinyl, plastic and rubber and really good for adding some "sunblock" to areas vulnerable to sun damage such as the top of the dash.

Do you know if the 303 protectant leaves a shine or sheen? I'm looking for something to apply to the vinyl door panels that will resist white smudges where my skin touches the surface, but I don't want to change the appearance of the vinyl. I had a Mercedes with black vinyl that showed those patches very vividly and yet the Ghibli I had with black vinyl didn't show any marks at all. Don't know what the difference was, but I do know that with the Merc and the F-Type I have to wipe down the door panel with a damp cloth almost daily.

Sounds like you need a skin conditioner more than you need a vinyl conditioner.

I hate shiny dashes - more sun to reflect into my eyes.

You wipe the 303 on, leave it for a few minutes, then buff it off with a MF cloth, no shine and no glare.

Thanks guys, yes I thought of doing the whole thing to make it uniform but I'll try to clean it off first. I'll give 303 a go.

You are the last person I expected to suggest such a thing. I don't see trading a white residue for an oily patch as a viable option--and besides, real men don't use lotions and such.

Hence, the wink. Having a bit of fun at your expense.

Also, real men don't eat quiche (unless they're using a chainsaw for a utensil).

I really like Leather Masters soft cleaner. Leaves a completely matte surface. More so than 303 even in my opinion. Both products have great use cases, but I like 303 for plastics more than leather. If you can't remove the product with soft cleaner, you can try strong cleaner.

Griots Garage Interior Detailer will clean and leave a matte finish as well. Use it all the time to dust the dash, center stack and steering wheel. It’s the only product I’ve found that doesn’t leave the steering wheel trim pieces tacky or sticky.

Try Mckee's wax remover for plastic. I used ion the exterior plastic of a Jeep that went through a liquid wax treatment in an automated car wash. .And no I wasn't the one that pulled that stunt, just the fixer. Try a test area if you can, maybe in another part of the car with same material where it is not visible, but you can apply the incorrect product then try to remove it.

The McKee's is only thing I could think of that is meant to remove any kind of a wax.
