Default HELP!!! interior storage cubby removal

Hey everyone, wondering if anybody has experienced the panel holding the interior storage cubby in between the seats flapping around in the wind (when top is down) or loose. I noticed this in my car all of a sudden the other day and im wondering if anybody knows how to remove that panel so it can be replaced. For more details, im not sure if maybe some clips are broken or what the issue is, I just see that the bottom of that panel is not properly attached to where it should be. Hope someone can help me out! Can post pics if text is not clear. thanks

Someone must have opened it and not installed it back property . Sounds like they have only pushed the top clips back in but not seated the base of the panel on the vertical pins at the bottom. Just pull forward from the top and you will see how easy it is to put back

Hello! Im posting some pics for clarification, panel #1 is what i want to pull to fix lower clips, panel #3 is the panel that blocks panel #1 from just being pulled out, as shown in #2 circle. Since panel #1 is under panel #3, im not sure how to pull it out

I have the 'lockable stowage bin' option, but my vague memory from other discussions here is that center panel comes out somehow? I don't see any mention of it in various documents I have.

It looks as though they are one unit and not separable. I've attached the Service manual pics for you to review.

Sorry i have the coupe and assumed the cubby was the same for both. Maybe the convertible is different from the coupe if indeed they are joined. Plenty of people have done the stereo upgrade in the convertible which involved removing your specific part so someone should be along shortly to shed more light on your problem

Default How to do it.

You must first remove the rear speaker covers , starting at the top with a trim tool, to reveal 4 13mm bolts each side of the car. Unbolt these and then remove the wind deflector. Next lift the headrests vertically upwards. There is a release clip at the bottom of the headrest posts.

The seat belt trim needs to have the inner side clip opened up to allow the large centre panel to be lifted upwards.

If you have the lockable cubby , then there will be a wire that controls that needs to be unclipped.

Replacement starts with lowering the large panel and aligning the mounting holes over the vertical lugs. Then just reverse the process above.

Job done.

Remove the rear speaker covers starting at the top with a plastic trim tool. Then unbolt the four 13mm bolts each side.

Take off the wind deflector.
Unclip the inner clip each side of the seat belt trim at the top.
Lift upwards the rollover hoops. There is a clip at the bottom of the posts.

lift the centre panel upwards with care to remove any attached wires on the back, if any.

Replace the panel by dropping the locating holes of the centre panel over the vertical lugs at the base. These were the ones causing the panel to flap.

Job done.

Apex1 has posted directions several times in response to the OP, but for some reason, his posts don’t appear. PM him if you’d like more info.
