Default HELP my wife is trapped in the car

So my wife is trapped in the car.
The passenger side door the LED under the lock/unlock button is constantly illuminated. When you push the unlock button, you can hear the the latch solenoid clicking but passenger door won't open. I can get out the drivers side, lock and unlock with the fob, both door handles go in and out, mirrors go in and out but still the passenger door won't open? Any ideas or help appreciated my wife has been stuck in the car for weeks, no seriously lucky it’s a vert that I could drop the roof and she could climb out otherwise I’d be toast.

Push on the outside door handle so that it levers open and perform the manual unlock with the key

If she's been locked in the car for weeks, I hope you haven't been feeding her. (food all over the car, etc.)

Seriously though, I suspect it is a broken mechanical link near the latch that is broken. This is a dealer repair item, unfortunately.

Thanks Nati, but if it’s mechanical why is the LED staying on when the drivers side LED goes on and off when you push lock unlock???

Love my Jag but things were so much simpler when we had wind up windows and push button door locks!! Surprised no one else has had this problem?

Inquiring minds want to know if your wife is still trapped in the car and if that causes any drivability issues? If no drivability issues occur, consider leaving everything as-is, as wife R&R could be Very Expensive.

Also, have you tried to see if other wives get trapped in the similar manner, or is this problem localized to your wife? This could potentially save you expenses of replacement, as it could be something else that is broken, like a door lever mechanism.

Last but not least, if the problem persist, you could consider installing a hydraulic extraction mechanism/lift in your garage. 2-ton rating is sufficent for most but extreme cases of multi-wife stuckage.

I thought that someone else on the forum had a handle malfunction and had to have the mechanism replaced. Will need to search. Likely will need dealer attention.

Also, with that thread headline there was no avoiding the onslaught of smart *** comments. Some really good ones, too!

Here is a thread on door handle issues:

Just letting you know how you can get the door open in such a circumstance.
