Default Trapped Air Pocketin Cooling System? '02 3.0

I changed my DCCV and a leaking water pump, while I was at it I also replaced the thermostat. Filled system with 50/50 Dexcool, I've bled the system multiple times over multiple days but have a odd problem-

On start up the temp gauge slowly goes to the middle as I would expect, get on a highway for a 15 minute blast into work and the needle stays in the middle. As soon as I exit the highway and come to a stop light the temp needle start creeping to the next couple of hash marks on the temp gauge, accelerate away from the stop light and it will start cooling down but not quite back to the mid point. Also, I hear my radiator fan kick on and run on high when it's 50 degrees and lower outside.

So, does this sound like a trapped air pocket or a faulty ECT? I'm going to check my A/C system charge as well since that contributes to the radiator fan speed. Any thoughts?

The system can be hard to bleed so hope it's that. It helps to put your heater on MAX. If you do that are you roasted?

You sound to be doing the right things, if that's any help.

Hi Jag,

I'm putting my heater on max when I'm bleeding the system, have plenty of heat! I know the system is a bit tricky to bleed but this has me stumped, my wife's Land Rover Discovery is simple compared to this!

On a side note, how's things in Yorkshire? My wife is a Briton and looking on a possible move to the Midlands or Manchester area, I've been in the auto industry for years in various roles and the wife is in marketing/graphic design...

Things are OK.... though jobs are in short supply.

The bankers are being blamed. (The governent's borrowings get less attention from.... er, the government. hmm.... deficit endlessly mentioned; national debt? no)

Manchester always seems too rainy to me but lots of people live there.....

Yes Sir, I have cracked both bleeders. As soon as I opened the crossover screw coolant came out so I closed it; I've been using the heater bleed ever since. I've even done the old hose squeezing to burp any air to no avail...
