Default High REV on start-up

I haven't been to the dealership for any service yet but I'm wondering if this is something that can be tamed of is it just a fact of life?
Upon starting with a cold engine, it will rev to several thousand RPM then quickly drop back to idle. I'm really uncomfortable with reving a cold engine and would never intentionally do so. Can this be adjusted or changed?

Sounds like a feature. My Audi does the same, revs high for about 30 seconds and then settles down to around 900 RPM.

You shouldn't worry about it, I think the Jaguar engineers know what they are doing.

No way around it. It would be great if there were a stealth mode, for a quiet getaway, but no such luck.

By the way, you have excellent taste in the color and model of your F-type. 7500 miles on mine so far.

On other cars such very high revs would indicate a fault, with the PCM desperately trying to keep the engine running. I'd think fault on the F-Type, too.

Wow. I love that sound. Sounds like a rocket when it starts up. It won't hurt engine. Don't worry---just enjoy !!

I read many times that something like 90% of all engine wear occurs at start-up. Little or no oil in the bearings and zero oil pressure. I don't think 2-3,000 RPM is wise under those circumstances. As for trusting the engineers to know what they're doing, I have a Porsche Boxster with a possible engine destroying Intermediate shaft bearing that was put in as a cost saving measure. No problem yet but the concern is always there.

Yes this is a designed "feature." In fact, if your car has active exhaust (Note: all F-Types, except for the base model, come with active exhaust, it is an option that should be added to the base), when you start the car up, the active exhaust is set to bypass for 30 seconds, to insure the car is loud at startup.

I would love for stealth mode to be useful and allow a quieter startup rather than dimming the dash lights. NOTE: I haven't been able to see any difference between stealth on or off!

Its a feature of the car.
Don't worry, everything is still lubricated.

Consider it like this; pour some oil on a bolt on the ground in your garage. come out 24 hours later and look at the bolt. oil will pool around the bottom but plenty of oil will still be on the metal bolt. your engine components are still lubricated just fine.

Just dont rev it to high hell until you get to OT.
