Default How to see the "service required" reason?

Hello all,

I get a quick service required message when I start my car then it goes away. I can't figure out how to read the message or what type of service it is needing. Is there a way to figure this out or do I actually have to take it to the dealer to figure out?

It's a timer/counter for your annual scheduled maintenance. Your owner's manual should give you the list of what's needed at your vehicle's age and mileage.

On my MY!8 I use the menu - select Vehicle Information and scroll down to the Service option. I think, I'll check tomorrow.

I will try that. I have the 2015 F-Type R so I think the system is a little older.

Steve is correct that it's a timer-based reminder for annual service. That said, it's not uncommon for it to go off when you're not really due - generally because the dealer forgets to reset the counter. If that's the case (or if you just want to skip the message), the procedure to reset the service is:

1) Set ignition on
2) Open hood
3) Open driver's door
4) Fully depress both accelerator and brake pedals for 10 seconds
5) Turn off ignition

If the message still appears, try again.

Default Is this a specific sequence?

I think I have tried this last time I changed my oil in my 2015 R; not sure it worked but I have a question.
Is this a SPECIFIC sequence; that is; I have to sit in the car (ideally) to do the first two steps (set ignition and pop the hood ). So, then I would open the driver door and proceed.
Do I have to LIFT the hood or is popping it enough? Because, if I have to exit the car after the hood pop, I would be opening the driver door out of sequence.

So complicated, why can't they just play nice like my 2001 GMC yukon Wait, I know the answer...

When I do it, I leave the driver's door open when I get in, ignition on, reach down and pull the hood release, and then do the pedal press and the rest of the procedure. Always works for me, no need to lift the hood.
