Au contrair, designed for a driver, not a switchboard operator.

Using the onboard phone functionality has been shown to be just as distracting as handheld use (which is now illegal in many if not most jurisdictions). Just stay off the phone and enjoy the drive!

Just say “Hey Siri phone xxxx” and she will. It’s hands free.

I did, but my Android phone did nothing. It's call free.

Does this unit use the microphone built into the F-Type or did you have to install a axillary microphone which attached to the purchased module? I had installed a similar product and always experience terrible acoustic on hands free phone calls. The listening party complains of poor hearing or echoing. I have tried different microphones and microphone locations without luck. Looking for a carplay system that uses the built in microphone within the car.

This on uses an external mic also. I have it mounted on the top of the steering wheel. No one has complained about the call quality but I will ask the next time I use it and get back to ya

What if any feature do you lose? Eg can you skip tracks using the steering wheel controls? And the volume?
And is it WiFi CarPlay?

I'd like to add to my 2017 SVR but not sure which is compatible.

Thanks!

Hi - have been reading up a lot on the CarPlay options for my 2017 F Type SVR with the 8inch Bosch head unit. Would like CarPlay wireless, rest of OEM features to work (fine to loose OEM nav), realize the steering wheel track forward switch doesn't seem to work on most. I want to keep OEM reverse camera and ideally add a front camera

From this detailed thread and my online research I believe these are the options. Interested in any real world experience on pros and cons

- GTA - seems to meet the above needs. Waiting for GTA to confirm back on OEM reversing camera and adding a forward one. Small issues like wiring harness a bit short. Maybe have to fiddle with dip switches to get it to work

UAD - similarly seems to work. Heard some issues with OEM reverse camera that flicks on and off when in CarPlay and reversing?. Uses separate microphone and sound quality isn't great. Also seems to plug into audio system via an aux lead into the center cubby (does that impact sound quality? Looks like GTA found a different way to connect

IDCORE - as best I can tell, that's the same as the UAD one?

A few videos on YouTube of changing out the Bosch system for a 10inch Android screen with a new bezel that replaces the physical buttons on both sides of the screen and allows a much larger screen to fit. But not seen it running - can you still access OEM screen? Is it quick or clunky. How hard is install as you have to connect circuit boards from the old screen?

So - any clear winner between GTA and UAD? Seem similar but maybe a few more clunky issues with UAD?
Reliability? Sound quality?

Then - anyone done the 10inch on a Bosch system?

Final question - is the screen unit coded to the vehicle? Or can you swap in a spare from a scrap dealer if have issues in trying these CarPlay systems out.

With hands-free phones, people (mostly female) are now free to wave their hands about in the air while talking and driving.
