Default iOS 8.0 and Bluetooth

Has anyone noticed bizarre behavior with this combo? I "upgraded" my iPhone 5S to iOS 8.0, and now any operation of the phone, be it receiving a text message or merely manipulating some controls, causes the sound system to mute and the call active display to come up. Sound will resume in a few seconds. Odd.

I just got an iPhone 6 plus and it is driving me crazy in my F-Type. Definitely some compatibility issues wit iOS 8. Lots of complaints in the Apple support forums... Some people are saying if you go into general -> reset -> and reset network settings it fixes strange behaviour but it didn't work for me. My phone pairs but shows no signal on the car display even through I have lots of signal and won't let me make calls through the car. My previous HTC One M8 works perfectly.

next rev of iOS will probably address this. 8.0.1 is already available to devs so probably won't be long.

Also have 8.0 on my 5s and haven't noticed any difference in operation so far but will report back if I do. iOS 8.01 is already seeded to developers and I'm guessing it will be pushed out in the not too distant future so maybe that may indeed help you guys.

Yes, it is available. It also appears Apple's system is so swamped with people requesting the update, that you get "unable to check for updates" messages. Am downloading it now on my phone, and it is PAINFULLY slow.

Software update asked me if I wanted IOS8 2 days ago. No problems with installation, while the mute feature appears to have the same functionality as it did with IOS7.

iPhone 5.

Not good. Seeing reports of people who have installed 8.0.1 and being unable to make/receive calls or use TouchID. Would hold off installing it until this gets sorted out...

Yes, there seems to be some sort of glitch with 8.0.1. It finally downloaded after nearly an hour, but I am now unable to install it because I get an error message indicating "unable to verify update because you are no longer connected to the internet." The interesting thing is I AM connected to the interent via a Wi-Fi connection.

I tried this update and it will not install.

I just got this alert from the Wall Street Journal:

Apple issued the first update to its iOS 8 just a week after the mobile-operating system was released—and then immediately pulled it due to “an issue.”
The move was preceded by grumblings that suggested 8.0.1 disrupted cellular connectivity and may also have affected the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Here’s the brief statement from an Apple spokeswoman:
“We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can. In the meantime we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update.”
In 8.0.1, Apple set out to repair the following:

  • Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
  • Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
  • Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
  • Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
  • Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
  • Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari
The suspended update may not have addressed all of the complaints people are reportedly having with iOS 8, including battery drain and Wi-Fi connectivity trouble. Now we just have to wait and see what 8.0.2 will bring.

Never go to a new version of software. Always bugs.

8.0.2 released last night. It downloaded and installed very quickly, and there are no detectable issues. I'm sure this one got vetted very carefully after the embarrassment.

Whether it addresses the issues complained about in this thread is unknown, but then again, I wasn't having problems with 8.0 and the interface to my F-Type.

Yes - works for me now that I updated to 8.0.2. Make sure you don't have anything plugged into USB - I can't stream when my iPod is plugged in. Most of the time I just leave a 160gb iPod classic plugged into the centre console all the time. Good solution if you have lots of music.

Default iOS 8.0.2 Bluetooth No Sound Issue

Took the update.
Phone pairs and docks ok, but there is no sound coming through the Jaguar sound system when making or receiving a call on the hands-free. Checked settings.

Deleting the phone followed by adding it in again did solve the problem, but you have to do it every time the car is powered off and on! Not practical.

Apple knows of the bug. Will be fixed mid-October with release 8.1 which is in test now. Lots of bluetooth issues that are known and should be fixed with 8.1; fingers crossed!
