You and TXJagR are correct, the numbers quoted for the first 5 months of 2016, are for all new F-Type sales, which includes 2014, 2015, and 2016; I'm assuming "sold" means delivered to end customer, not "ordered". The numbers came from GoodCarBadCar.

Thanks to TR64ever for visiting the factory and giving us the 80 cars per day estimate. I do believe that is for F-Types only. Here are two pieces of data which support that estimate. First, I read a 2013 British newspaper report which said that a new F-Type rolls out of the factory every 8 minutes, which is about 60 cars per 8 hour shift. I also read that in late 2103 JLR made a significant investment in Castle Bromwich to increase production. Second, according to Motor Authority News (Jan 2015), globally JLR sold 462,678 cars in 2014, of which 81,579 were Jaguars. So there's good chance that something close to 20,000 of them were F-Types. (Jaguar does not report sales of individual models.)

I too have recently seen daily commercials for the F-Type here in Colorado. This could mean that sales are not meeting targets for 2015, but it could be just the business cycle. In 2014, JLR sold an average of 342 cars per month in the US, whereas so far in 5 month of 2015 they have sold an average of 340 cars per month. I'm sure they have planned for some sales growth. They may indeed be willing to negotiate better on price and offer the Club Discount, too. A local dealer told me they sell "just a couple" F-Types per month.

This would assume that Jaguar sells an equal number of F-Types, XKs, XJs, and XFs; which they absolutely do not. The F Type is a low volume seller compared to Jaguar's other models which reach a greater target audience and have a generally lower price tag. I'd imagine they only make 7000-9000 vehicles per year.

Now its very possible that the line only runs 3 - 4 days a week. Or has significant shutdown periods throughout the year.

Nope sorry, bad assumption. There is no "equal number" sales assumption in what I reported. The 2015 US sales data to date show this breakdown for the various models: F-Type = 26%; XF = 47%, XJ = 23%, which adds to 96%. The remaining 4% is left-over XK models.

I have read that the XF is the big seller for Jaguar in Europe, too. This data is consistent with the F-type making up about 20% of Jaguar global production of about 81,000+ cars. Looks to me like TR64ever read his tour notes correctly at 80 cars per day F-Type average production, or about 19,000+ per year. On some days they'd have to do more to make up for factory shutdowns and other line delays delays, as you noted.

Their strategy is that the new AWD and manual models will push sales higher for the F-Type, by pulling buyers to Jaguar who can get these options in competitor cars, but if they don't get new buyers, they'll just split the market between the models. We'll find out later this year.

You quoted 2014 sales numbers (at 81k sold) which included full sales of the F-Type, XF, XJ and XK... All 4 vehicles were in full swing production. Then you quoted 2015 sales data (for % breakdown) in which XK was no longer being produced. You cannot assume 2014 had the same breakdown as 2015 because of this. Your math requires proper data to be accurate. You're also trying to apply a U.S. breakdown to global sales. In reality we're both only guessing.

Don't know about sales numbers but glad to see the villians are back in the most recent ads for the XE and F-Type.

This is a good website. Sales look good around 300 to 400 per month in the USA.

Jaguar F-Type Sales Figures - GOOD CAR BAD CAR

That's about 4000 cars per year in the USA. Hopefully sales will pick up now that the weather is starting to get nicer across the county. But 20% of total F production sold in the U.S. is good for Jaguar.

Its not really as good as it looks simply because the 20% they have gained in F-Type sales are a direct replacement to the XK sales they lost...

I disagree, they have tripled and quadrupled XK sales. The XK was a dinosaur and was slowly becoming extinct on it's own.

I've had Velocity Channel on this afternoon while doing some touch-up painting. "The new "Good to be Bad" commercial featuring the F-Type Convertible and Coupe have been running at the rate of 4 times every hour in the DC market.

They do seem to be worried about F-Type sales.

Fair enough, so here it is. For year 2014, Jaguar total sales in the US were 15773 cars of which 1452 were XK's or 9%, and 4112 were F-Types, or 26%. For 2015 to date (5 months), Jaguar total US sales were 6619 cars, of which 227 were XK's or 3%, and 1701 were F-Types, or 26%. For Canada 2014 Jaguar sales were 1460 cars, of which 457 were F-Type or 31%, and for 2005 sales to date were 562 of which 189 were F-Type or 31%. Adding the US and Canadian markets together makes F-Type about 26.5% of 2014 sales and 26.3% of 2015 sales to date.

The only assumptions I am making are that US and Canadian sales are a good representation of Jaguar sales for F-Type which is about 25% of global Jaguar sales, and that would equate to about 20,000+ F-Type sales out of 81,000+ total Jaguar sales in 2014. And it is looking pretty much the same for 2015 to date based on numbers and percentages.

The data I am using is 1) GCBC sales data for the US and Canada, 2) Jaguar 2013-14 Annual Report, 3) Newspaper interview of spring 2013, which said that at start-up the factory could produce one new F-Type every 8 minutes, or about 60 per day, or 14,400 per year), and TR64ever's notes from fall 2014 of 80 per day (19,200 per year). The data seems consistent. Believe or guess what you will.

TXJagR - The F-Type is in some way a replacement for the XK models, but is far more successful in sales. XK sales were not as strong as F-Type. Here's the US sales data on that: 136 cars/mo in 2012, 102 cars/mo in 2013, 121 cars/mo in 2014, and 45 cars/mo in 2015 to date. This vs. F-Type sales of 342 cars/mo in 2014, and 340 cars/mo in 2015 to date. SoCalJagS, this data supports your comments.

Still I agree with Foosh in that so far sales in 2015 are not what Jaguar would like to see. The 2015 US market has been flat so far, with no uptick over 2014 sales, and I think Marketing is not happy with that. I'm sure they are planning that AWD and manual transmission models will help increase sales, so more commercials and magazine articles yes, to point out what is new for 2016.
