Default Jump Starting Question

Can I safely jump start my other car (2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe) with my 2015 F-Type V6 S using the connectors under the front hood? Thanks.

With today's electronics, it's always a crap shoot. It would be best to disconnect the Jag battery first, and then connect the jumper leads directly to the battery.

I would only use the solid state digital jumpers!

Welcome to the forum blueftype,

I was amazed to find in the Owner's Handbook for the 2015 F-Type that Jaguar don't discourage this although they do give some serious warnings on the procedure. On earlier models it's an excellent way to fry sensitive electronics and, if it was mine, I certainly wouldn't be trying it.

I'd recommend investing in a portable jump starter (generally $50-$100).
The one I have/like is:

Amazon Amazon

It provides 400 peak amps and 200 starting amps. Plus, it comes with lots of adapters to provide emergency power for cell phones, etc.

Good decision. While the risk is low-ish, downside is 10s of thousands in burnt out controllers.

For a Genesis or similar car, I'd buy one of those jumper cable equipped lithium ion battery packs. Charge your phone and jump a 3-5 liter engine.

Any other suggestions for solid state jumpers? I recently didnt drive my car for over 12 days and it was stone cold dead. The AAA guy tried a solid state jumper and it didnt work. He then did some "boost" connection that seemed to work, but I was worried he would burn something out -- luckily he didnt.

While this is not unusual, this is not normal. Get this fixed under warranty.
