Question lighter socket 2017 F-Type R

I found an 8 yr old thread on the socket, but it didn't address my question.

The socket by the gear shift has a surround glow light that is lit, but there is no power output when an adapter is plugged in. If the glow light is working, does that mean there should be power output as well? I went to change the f52 fuse, but of course, I didn't have a 20A mini blade fuse on hand. I have some fuses on order, but I thought maybe someone could answer the question. At my age, it's a bitch just getting to the passenger footwell fuse box. BTW, what are the wrenches for that are hooked into the fuse box cover lid?

FWIW, the socket in the cubby works fine.

TIA

First: This 'power point' is only ON when the car is powered. Like the HAZARD triangle, the power remains for a few minutes after shutdown.

Second: Ever thought of measuring power with a voltmeter? Should have 12V between the contact at the bottom of the socket, and the metal 'wall' of the socket.

Lighter sockets are usually fused for higher amperage, so I doubt if the cubby one is on the same circuit.

++++++++++

Our power point always has a radar detector plugged in, so I haven't noticed the operation of the 'locator ring' light.

The tools in the passenger footwell fusebox are for manually raising the roof if it fails or the battery dies. The procedure should be in your manual.

The light is basically tapped into the main power for that socket so the socket is getting power. Again, try to voltmeter to see if you're getting power to the socket, perhaps

I pulled my center console frame to wrap it in gloss vinyl and thought I'd take a few photos of the backside of that power socket for you. Note the rectangular piece is the light which is basically just connected to the power socket.

well, damn, I guess there's no reason to change that fuse then. I appreciate you doing that!
