Hi I'm a newbie here, and have tried looking for an answer to my problem, but not found anything. My F-type is 2015, absolutely brillaint, and I love it. However I tried to update the maps on the SD card, I used the updater etc etc, the SD card shows the data has been up dated when connected to my Apple Mac, however when the cars navigation system tries to accept the new data, it fails at different stages each time. I have tried maybe 20 times. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong ? thanks in advance.

I would get one of the Carplay/Android Auto 'modifications' to the head unit before trying to update the car's Navigation!

 

Hi Carbuff2, Thank you, yes I have read my way all through that saga. My problem is a bit different. I can update my SD card. But the updated card is not recognised by the incontrol system / software.

 

Agreed, I wouldn't bother trying to update the maps. Just pop in a CarPlay/Android Auto unit and you have a much better solution.

 

My nav update issue had to do with mis/disinformation from both Jaguar and HERE the nav people. My issue was that I have an Incontrol Plus unit and all the instructions that are/were provided for updates were wrong. My car is a 2017 and the tech had to input a 2015 to get to the update. The unfortunate ending was that the last update that will ever be for the Plus system is 2020, now 5 years out of date. You CAN still buy one (USB) if there are any left. For $119 USD I decided to leave it be.

 

Hi Major Tom, I understand carplay/ android. I use an android phone. However the rest of the system except navigation works really well for me, I can get DAB radio, and all my music from a USB stick, and my phone plus my phone works through the speakers etc. . At the moment I am using Maps on my phone to navigate, whilst I have a fab 3D printed phone holder that fits really nicely on the passenger central hand rail, it is just little to far from where I need to be looking for my liking. So I want to get the system as designed working again. It was working OK when i got the car - so I am thinking it is something I am missing in installing the updated maps .

 

Fair enough Carl. Although I use CarPlay 99% of the time I also appreciate having the standard navigation available. It ought to be possible to install updated maps in your car but the data will probably be quite old. Perhaps something has gone wrong with the SD card and it could be worth trying with another SD card.
