Default Lowering Springs Causing Error Message

Dealer called and said after they installed the AP Velocity lowering springs the car is giving them an suspension/dynamic stability control fault. Have any of you guys that have had the car lowered experienced this?

Second concern from the dealer is if they go in to re-set or re-calibrate it for the lower ride height, will it effect the aftermarket tune?

Any input from people in the know about this stuff?

If the suspension recalibration results in re-flashing back to the OEM tune, your tuner should still have a copy of your tuning file than you can upload back into your ECU.

Hmm . . . both Vic55 (R) and WaltB (V8S) used those and reported no issues. Why don't you PM them for insight.

I'm sure the last thing you want to do is send it all the way back to Hennessey at this point.

EDIT: P.S. do a search on "Velocity" because their rep was on this forum as well, he also might be able to point you in the right direction. I'm wondering if this was dealer-caused.

Here is the Velocity guy's contact info, as well as Vic55s thread.

I have the AP guys email but I didn't think he'd have any knowledge on the cars error message. Jag is talking to hennessey, and they think they can just update the suspension part without a complete reset.

Lol no I do not want to send it all the way back to have it retuned, enclosed shipping was almost half the bill.

Just figured I'd see if anyone here had the same issue.

His phone number is in that first link above. You might try a quick call to see if he's run across this before.

If necessary,Hennessy should be able to send you the tune for you to have uploaded locally.

I think hennessey has tuned one too many Ferraris, they've developed a snootiness about sharing stuff like that lol.

I wasn't as concerned about the tune getting deleted as I was curious about the dynamic stability error message caused by the springs. Worried me that nobody else had mentioned getting that error.

The only thing that could be causing a "suspension error" on an F-Type is;

- An open or short circuit to one or more shocks or height sensors i.e. the didn't plug it in or there is wiring damage.
- A software/programming fault.

1st option seems more likely...

EDIT

Wait, the car is at a Jaguar dealer? They can't read the codes and figure out the problem?

Yeah they can, they were just cautious about clearing the fault. They wanted to be sure that it wouldn't affect the tune. I was just checking on here to see if anyone else ran into the same fault.

Just left the dealer. They cleared it. No issues. Car looks way better with even a mild drop.

Hey Philly I just saw this after I replied to your PM and said basically what Cambo351 said: shock sensor error...

These cars are not on air suspension nor do they have adjustable height systems so I would think its the shock piece.

fyi, I had my car recently lowered and recalibrate on the HRE springs by BMCD (Jag dealer) here in SF. No issues so far.

So what you guys are saying is that the ride height is part of the calibration of the Dynamic Stability Control system?

That surprises me. The height sensors are usually just for adjusting the headlamp level...

In this thread there seems to be two vehicles that were lowered and no calibration needed [Vic55 (R) and WaltB (V8S)], and two that did need calibration [phillyweb (R) and alexg (V8S)]

Doesn't make much sense...

Hi Guys,

Just found this thread. Sorry I missed it first time around. I'm really surprised to hear that there was a fault code present? We tested these pre-release on a coupe & convertible and they performed flawlessly.

If the OP could send me the dealer/installer's info that would be great. Would like to talk to them. I suspect it is an anomaly or installation issue but it would be good to confirm with them.

I have H&R Springs installed on mine. Been into the dealership once with zero problems.

Phillyweb hasn't been around in awhile, but as he explained above some time ago, his installer was able to clear the warning message quickly. It was apparently just a sensor triggered at some point in the installation process.
