Default MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5 ?

It's interesting, because I know I'm bad at searching... but there's one thread mentioning a Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S replacement, it being the MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5.
But no other threads since that one from March 2023. It seems to be out, but no chatter here?

Albeit all stingy four out of five (lol), the reviews on Google seem to be great? If you trust that. https://g.co/kgs/fMciDgs
Really good on the Michelin site too: https://www.michelinman.com/auto/tir...-pilot-sport-5

I have *no* tread, and instead of being proactive (honestly the rain has been really fun with my back end), the universe gave me a giant bolt in my driver's rear tire, so I need to figure out the answer... stat!

Have any F-Types tried these tires? Should I just stick with the Sport 4 S?
I sorta wanna try these. =^D
I promise not to drive through any puddles again.

I needed new tyres a few months ago and I wanted the new S5 to replace the worn out 4S.
For a long time after the S5 first came out they were only available as OEM fitment and only in 21", no good for those of us with 20" OEM wheels unless you spring for new 21" wheels as well.
By the time I really needed new tyres (down to the wear indicators and front right inner nylon belt showing) they had become available in 20", so I enquired at my local tyre shop (which I am loyal to because of their great service over the years and closeness so I did not shop around).
They had a lot of trouble locating a set in the right sizes and said it could take a few weeks, and the S5 were a fair bit more expensive than the already expensive 4S.
However they had the right size 4S in stock so I settled for those, and I don't for a second regret that decision.
Bottom line - the S5 are probably a little better than the 4S but you will pay a lot more for them and you may have to wait a while to get them, so if you need new tyres urgently I reckon you should stick with the 4S.

I thought they were still for OEM only. I assume those dealers can get an OEM replacement

Tire Rack shows the following sizes for the S 5 currently:

Here's a link to their S 5 page - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/michelin-pilot-sport-s-5

THANK YOU... this is pretty interesting.

It's so new, most do think it's OEM, and it might still be... but my shop ordered Pilot 4 S and they come in Tuesday, so now we're having fun hunting these down in the meantime.

Currently, they cannot find or source them, so I'll trust them. Basically he said that they don't exist to source, yet.
I might call another shop just to see, and update the thread.

The Tire Rack link you dropped has the 295-30-20, but when you do the configurator thingy on the site, it says the tire isn't available for our car.
2nd shop I called also can't find/source it yet.

Researching, I am jelly as apparently, the tire is OEM on:
  • Corvette
  • Ferrari
  • Lucid
  • Mercedes-AMG
  • Porsche
  • Tesla

It’s not like I push the 4S close to its (or my) limits, don’t know that I’d bother with S5 (if it were ever available in 19”.)

I was quite surprised searching Tire Rack that the 4S is available in a run-flat version (4S ZP.) Yuck.

My current 4S are worn out, so I’ll be replacing them this spring. Got 30,000 miles out of them!
