Hi there, My father recently purchased a 2023 F type R back in August, We love the car and drive it together. About a month ago, I was pulling the car into the garage with bad directions from dad and I put on a deep paint scratch. The panel is not dented or off thankfully, but we got an initial quote of $3,000+. I am footing the bill because I'm still responsible for what happened but I wanted to see what other people have paid at body shops for this type of damage, thanks. The damage to the wheel in the image is not from me, that came from dad on a separate incident, I just want to see what I can expect to pay for the side panel here. (Living on a small street sucks XD)
Try getting quotes from reputable independent body shops in your area. Just make sure they have experience painting aluminum. The process is different than painting steel.
Find an independent shop that can work on aluminum. There are quite a few around now due to ford moving to aluminum for their trucks if in the US. I paid 1k to get a crease out of a rear fender and respray. Did a better job than the JLR approved shop who wanted 6k for the same work.
I ended up using the JLR approved shop when somebody ran into me and paid for the repairs.
Aluminum shop important, they have a separate area. When I had my scrape fixed there was a slight bend above broken headlight that at the time the approved shop had to replace quarter per Jag CPO rules for approved shop at the time. Insurance approved it so it must have been legit.
Around here there is a huge level of competition....so prices are fair (my gut is 1k for that job)....really a supply and demand issue....
AL expertise key. But, in your case it may not be as key as the panel need not be removed and the prime/base may not need to be removed...so it might just be paint by numbers. Hard to tell.
Secret sauce: contact your local Porsche club and ask who they use....they can be way more attention oriented (saying it nicely) than us.....and may know who is good/fair/cheap and good, etc.
Good luck.
