Is it just a paint flaw? Rust forming under the paint ?

The main thing I noticed is that it looks like you've been driving in the desert. I don't have that much dust in the engine bay of my MY14.

My best guess is just a flaw in the paint. Could be dirt under the paint or some type of corrosion. I would keep an eye on it and if it does not change don't worry about it.

Yep the bumps you see is dirt/metal filings under the paint, but strangely the parts looks like it has a bit of a kink in it almost as if it's slightly bent.

Brand new cars go through a multitude of stages after rolling off the line, most of which involves human, and while rare, repaired new car do exist, and can be sold with or without disclosure to the potential buyer.

Understandable, however I unloaded the car in India and took delivery within a day of it arriving here , unless the car was repaired in the uk prior to it being shipped out that I don't know.

Wow, amazing what climate will do to under the hood. My car is a year old and looks spotless and never been cleaned.

The amazing thing about the interstate highways that President Eisenhower commissioned under the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 is that none of them run in only in one direction.

I would say it's nothing. I have never bought a new car and found it flawless. There was always some imperfection somewhere and thankfully this is under the hood.
