Default Modification or uses for above center console

Has anyone modified or found uses for this area? Most I can fit is a baseball cap rolled up. Storage is slim in the car ( not complaining ) , but can it be modified ? There is a pop off panel below the top container hole or above the center opening console box. Car is a coupe with panoramic

I will look into this. I have a coupe as well. I have done quite a bit of custom upholstery on Porsche. I'm retired now, but this could be an interesting project.

Much appreciated Paul. Any ideas for this would be nice! I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed before.

I keep water bottles or my wife’s purse in there when she’s riding with me. For all else, the console cubby and door pockets seem to be adequate for me. But as a few here know, I try to travel light.

I keep pens, work badge there and my wallet, phone etc when driving. It’s a nice space.

I have thought about mounting a gopro on a little tripod.

This is what mine has in it at the moment, and with the lower hatch lid removed to show the tasteful, um, 'finishing' job I did on it.

That is not bad at all. You could just line it in matching leather and you're set.

I had thought this was a bad joke perpetrated by a former Volkswagen engineer who had inadvertently been allowed to drop a design into the coup at the last minute just before production just to ruin a perfect car.
Why not have a pass through from the front into the rear cargo space as the '63-67 Corvettes had? At least there would be usable access to the rear area. That little 'cubby' is good for little more that sun glasses or short telephone, or as you say, tissues, likely, used......

I have a first aid kit in the upper cubby. When I first got the car I popped off that lower cover to see what could be done, but never did anything. I looked at a used cover on eBay to modify, and keep the original safe, but they wanted too much for one with broken mounting tabs. The Team Sky F-Type had a radio or two there, as I recall. That's what inspired me to look in the first place.

Anything I'd do there would need to retain any contents. I can't stand things that shift around when I'm driving.

Too bad it isn’t enough space to fit a flux capacitor in there ...

This does come up from time to time, but I'm more interested in an oscillation overthruster.

We were promised a sequel. Whatever happened to it?
