Default MT V6 S won't go in to gear

Today I tried to drive my manual transmission 2017 F-Type S, but I couldn't get it to shift. It turns out that I can run it through the gears with the car off, but as soon as I crank the car it won't go from neutral in to any of the gears. It just left on a flatbed to my local Jaguar dealership. This should be interesting

Clutch. Perhaps air in the system or a faulty slave or master cylinder.

What is the production date on your car? If you have had the clutch previously replaced, when was it replaced? If the clutch pedal feels normal, the pressure plate May have come apart.

Definitely the clutch. That was symptom #2 for mine (after slippage), and was caused by pieces (a spring) coming loose from the friction disc and getting caught in the dual-mass flywheel.

Default The clutches have it

let me third or fourth that. Mine did exactly the same - there are previous threads on this with the parts that need replaced. Hopefully by now the boldly designed parts are out of the warehouse but just ensure that they give you the redesigned ones

The bulletin attached to this post helped me, particularly because my first recorded complaint predated it:

Interesting: This particular bulletin is referencing the gen 3 clutch (T2R25681) as the replacement for a faulty gen2 clutch (T2R21165). My first two clutches were the extremely defective gen 1 clutches (T2R18945) which they finally replaced with the gen 2 clutch. This particular bulletin should serve me well in the event that the clutch starts slipping again before July 2020 (warranty expiration).

My F-Type is a 2017, though I took delivery of it in April, 2016. I called the dealer today and he said they were still investigating it and in particular were looking at a related TSB. He called back later and left me a message that they have to replace the clutch plate. BTW, I never has any slippage at all before it wouldn't go in to gear with the car on.

Mine would only slip very intermittently, and I had a hell of a time demonstrating it. The failure to go into gear was easily demonstrable until the actual technician assigned to the job tried it the next day. Then, it was back to normal.

When they finally took it apart, there was a spring from the friction disc floating loose. Unlike Lance's situation, the pressure plate was still in one piece. Interestingly, when I inspected the parts I noted the pressure plate was not labeled Volvo, but JLR. I didn't look for a stamp on the disc.

I picked up my F-Type on Saturday. Here are the parts that were used as listed on the invoice:
1 T2R27466 Clutch
2 T4N1299 Pin
6 T2R15201 Bolt
12 C2D2087 Bolt
2 JDE32544 Clamp-Exhaust
1 LRNDOT4 Fluid - Brake

It seems to be working fine again, though it feels like the clutch is stiffer than before.

Another S model with clutch problems. So far, no V6 reporting clutch problems.

Unfortunately, there repair came with a rattle at low RPM's in 1st and 2nd gear. Fortunately, it's easy to reproduce because it happens almost every time I go through the gears from a stop. It's going back to the dealership as soon as they can get me a loaner. I'll try to extract from them the source of the problem.

most likely a loose heat shield.

Just to wrap this one up, I got my F-Type back from the dealership again. I was told that there was a loose heat shield and that a couple of drive shaft bolts were also loose. I've had it back for a week now and all seems to be well.

Do you know which related TSB they were looking at? The TOPIx clutch improvement bulletin is outdated / no longer valid in the TOPIx data per my dealer so I have yet to get the clutch remedied.

I have no idea. They were not very forthcoming with technical information other than what was on the invoice.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm once again having trouble getting the car in to gear. This time it's extremely difficult to get in to 1st gear when the car is cold. 2nd and 3rd are more difficult than they were. Once the car warms up, the issue seems to go away. The brake fluid reservoir has plenty of fluid in it. I couldn't find a clutch fluid reservoir, so I'm guessing the brakes and clutch share the same reservoir? Any guesses as to what the issue may be?

Depending on part number (generation) of clutch, it could be anything. My second generation clutch destroyed both gearbox and differential as it had too-rapid uptake and not enough damping.

The previous replacement clutch installed was part number T2R27466, which I think is the 3rd generation clutch, but I could be wrong.
