Default MY16 vs MY17 differences?

Are there any differences between MY16 and MY17? I really prefer the pre-facelift front end so I'm primarily looking at 2017 models but I have nothing against 2016 if I can fine one with my options and low enough miles.

There is no exterior noticeable differences between 2016-2017 MY. It’s the 2018 MY that had the facelift with new LED etc.

Right - I understand that 2018 is when the exterior got updated and I'm not excited about that new front end. So I'm trying to figure out if anything changed between 2016 and 2017 that I need to consider - same electronics/technology, configurable dynamics, driver assistance features, etc?

If only someone would put a link to the brochures for the various years I’m sure that would help......No wait !!!

As you will have seen, there are two versions of the '16MY. Over here they call the second 16.5, though it was still built in 2015. The biggest (maybe only, I'm not sure) improvement was the infotainment. As a result when I was thinking of going to the R, I was really after the 16.5MY as it had that infotainment (same as my current car), but I'd have rathered RWD to AWD which meant preferably not '17, and I definitely preferred the vertical gills so not '18. So if you want RWD R, 16.5 is the pick, if you want AWD, then 17 is the go. If infotainment isnt a thing for you and you want RWD, '16 is good.

The brochures aren't particularly helpful with specific differences as they are primarily marketing fluff. Is "Adaptive Dynamics" in 2016 the same as "Advanced Driving Dynamics" in 2017? Looks like the 2017 might have added some driver assistance features - or maybe they just added more icons to that page of the brochure for things that were already included in 2016. It's tough to decipher real differences from from what might just be a different presentation in the brochure. I just thought some folks here might have some useful knowledge to share.

Thanks - I should have specified that I'm in the US and mostly considering the S (380hp) but possibly R. I'm torn on RWD or AWD for the S but would likely prefer AWD if I went with the R.

Cheers. Personally I prefer the RWD in the 6 because the steering is quite a bit lighter, and the same for the R which I have only driven on Jag drive days. That said, I had a RWD XKR and found it a bit of a handful in the wet especially and often in the dry, so much so that the dts etc would kick in often. While I would prefer the RWD driving, the AWD would be a more usable car in the R.

I think it went to electric steering in the second version of the 16 model as well. I really like it.

There is no choice but AWD in the USA for 2016 and newer model years in the R.

Here in the US, the entire ‘16 model year had the EPS.
