Navigation Can't Connect To Internet
I have not been able to get the Navigation system on my new 2021 model to connect to the internet. The SIM card is inserted in the slot in the armrest console and the Navigation system works, but I can't access any of the advanced features like traffic conditions, nearby gas stations, restaurants, etc. The icon on the screen just shows no signal. My phone connects to the internet properly from the car. I have tried this in my driveway, on the road and at known Wi Fi hotspots. I checked my Connectivity settings and they are all checked off. I just get a popup on the screen that says I must be connected to the internet to access some features, same with trying to register and login on the Nav screen.
I did a search for past threads on this issue and most were several years old. I did find one that mentioned removing and inserting the SIM card several times to reboot it, I tried that with no success. Am I missing something, or is a trip to the dealer in order ?

Does the SIM work in a cell phone? Always a good idea to check it somewhere you know it should definitley work, to eliminate the SIM being duff.
In my car the screen shows the signal strength and "4G" when connected - does yours give that indication? When it doesn't connect it shows an icon with a diagonal line (or a cross, it's been while since mine didn't connect) through it to denote not connected.

I either get no signal strength bars, or the icon with the slash through it on the top right of the touch screen where the icons are. The cell phone strength is a bit sketchy on my street which is why I also tried it on the road and in town where there are Wi Fi spots all over and my phone has no trouble connecting to the internet.
I'll try cleaning the contacts on the SIM card. I'm sure it was a new one, the dealer installed it as part of the new car prep when I picked up the car a few weeks ago and I got the credit card with the punched out spot where the SIM card was and the serial # and PIN stickers.
I downloaded the Jaguar InControl App on my Samsung Android phone and the phone is communicating with the car, as in I can check the status, lock the doors, remote start, etc. Not sure if that means anything related to the Nav issue. I also downloaded the Jaguar Route Planner App but it appears that it won't work properly until I get an account set up and signed in with a name and password through the Nav screen first, which I can't do until I can get the Nav to connect with the internet.

There is a setting in the navigation menu that tells the car not to use the cellular connection for navigation (since data can be significant--especially on satellite map view). Make sure that option is not checked.

Not sure if this is applicable, but 2021 F-Pace models with the new Pivi Pro are experiencing a similar issue. See F-Pace solution below:
Please arrange for the vehicle to be booked into the customers local retailer, and for VSS (vehicle shared secrets) procedure to be completed.
The InControl app talks to the car using the car's built in SIM card so that's all independent of the satnav communication that relies on that additional SIM card. I'd ask the dealer about it. I had a similar problem with mine - the car just refused to recognise my SIM card. My dealer sorted it out but I don't know exactly how.
My car is a 2021 F Type R with a March 2021 build date. I'll try cleaning the contacts on the SIM card and removing and reinserting it a few times and see if that fixes it. If not a trip to the dealer will be in order.
When I first start the car, I can see that the Nav system is trying to connect but after a few seconds I either get the symbol showing no connection or no signal strength. This is regardless of whether I am in my driveway or a known Wi Fi hotspot, and my phone connects to the internet with no issues.

The advanced features, such as traffic requires its own SIM card and a working account. Since your car is new, it SHOULD have been initialized by the dealer and have a 90-day free trial with AT&T. It sounds like that didn't happen, and you wouldn't be the only one. I went through the same thing with the F-Pace. Getting that process started is a 3-way deal involving Jaguar, AT&T, and you. So, whoever you're talking to about the problem, the problem is always with the other guy. It took almost a month to get things straightened out (and there was no extension to the trial window). At the end of the trial, I took out the AT&T SIM and switched to a free plan at FreedomPop. That plan had a 200mb cap, but it was enough for navigation features, but it wouldn't be enough if you're streaming music/video. Alternatively, you also can create a Hotspot on your phone and have the car connect with WIFI.
My experience was like that of uncheel. I called Jaguar Tech Support. They told me to call AT&T. I called AT&T, they said that my VIN was invalid and to call my Jaguar Service Department.
I called them and they said the program needs to be set up by my salesperson. My salesperson said the service department was incorrect.
The bottom line is that it is a monthly pay service to get internet access through the vehicle and if I wanted to do it I needed to call AT&T again and smack them around until they put me through to someone who has a clue. I am unwilling to pay anything since I can use the WAZE app on my Android phone for free, although it requires having the phone plugged in to the USB port in the console which is kind of a pain.
I will look into FreedomPop. Uncheel, if for example I am streaming Pandora from the free app on my phone and through the Bluetooth connection, is there any reason that I might run into a data cap ? It doesn't seem like using Pandora for a few hours a month at max would be an issue.

Thanks uncheel. I have streamed Pandora through my phone and the Bluetooth connection in my Mazda SUV and never had any kind of issues using up data. So I feel pretty confident that there would be no problem in my F Type.
And lo and behold, I received an email this morning from AT&T that my "90 day free trial" account has been activated and they sent the instructions on how to set up the vehicle. If you are not already an AT&T wireless customer, the fees run anywhere from $15 per month for up to 2 GB of data to $200 per year, prepaid, for unlimited data. I think I will try the free trial plan but seriously doubt that I will continue once the monthly fees kick in.
